Ok I got her to stop biting her nails by using Orly No-bite. She used it for about a month or so and has stopped biting her nail they are long and healthy now the problem is she does not bite her nails but her cuticles and the skin around her nail. My question is can the no-bit be applied to the skin and nail area. It worked beautifuly for her nails but her cuticles look bad and chewed. I dont want to put it on her skin and go bad ya know. So whatcha think? Can I use it on her skin and cuticles?

Hi Lovelyislacey

You can look on this site about the no bite http://www.folica.com/Orly_No_Bite_d515.html

I wouldn't put it around her cuticles as it will dry hard and then she will have an overwhelming need to chew it off.

your best bet is to give her cuticle oil and get her to apply it twice a day - this in turn will soften the cuticle. It is when they are dry people nibble.

Give it a go hopefully it will help.

I gave her a bottle of solar oil that she has been using but she still chews I will have to figure something out thanks for the link.

I once heard that biting your nails was like licking a toilet with all the germs. You could always try telling her that.LOL

Yuck...lol Hey its worth a try!

People bite the skin around their nails because it feels rough and they pull at the little bits to 'smooth' it; this in turn, when it starts to grow again, grows rough and then they strat to pick to even the surface again ... a viscious circle. You have to get them to break the cycle.

This client needs a pair of cuticle nippers and every time she feels a rough piece of skin she must trim it off with the nippers to smooth it and use solar Oil every day. after about 2-3 weeks, the skin around her nails will be naturally healed and smooth and she will not be tempted to bite it. This really works ... I know ... the skin around my nails used to be just as bad.

Although (or maybe because) this sounds so disgusting, it works with clients who are nail or skin biters - Ask your client to remember that many of the bacteria and viruses found under the nail and around the cuticle area really belong in a part of the body quite some distance away!! A brief handwash with soap and water is not enough to remove them, which is why infections such as MRSA are causing such problems in UK hospitals!! MRSA is dangerous for people with open wounds, but germs from our bottoms can cause many tummy upsets and nasty diseases if ingested. Also, amylase in saliva helps start the breakdown of proteins, which is why her skin will become red, hot and very sore.

put a muzzle on her!

I have one lovely lady who is 3 weeks bite free, lol! she's very proud of herself.

one of my regular mani ladies bites her cuticles and side walls so bad, and has for so many years, that she has these calluses and built up scar tissue on her thumbs and pointers. It's really gross!!

there is a no bite liquid... should be at your local pharmacists (chemists?)... and it isn't like a polish, it won't get hard... & tastes N-A-S-T-Y!!!
