I didnt text at first but was finding more and more clients now book via text message.

When i get a new client I always ask if they are happy to recieve text alerts and 9/10 are more than pleased as its quick and easy.

I text everyone... even the clients I know will never miss an appointment.

My clients have told me that they love to get a reminder text the day before.... they do sometimes reply by asking if they can change it etc but I don't mind in the least.

I used to have the odd no show or a client coming to me at 2.30pm instead of 2pm... but that never happens now.

I agree with the others about the wording... keep it very professional ... no kisses xx:)

I agree, my clients comment if they dont get the text!! They appreciate the reminder. I also put on the reminder that if the appointment is no longer convenient would they please contact us to avoid a cancellation fee. We hardly ever get no-shows anymore, the texts are worth their weight in gold!

interestingly, I don't send reminders...the only times Ive ever bothered, I got responses such as "ooh, I was going to call you, I need to cancel"!! I found it makes life too easy for people to cancel at the last minute and muck my day up! So, because I'm mobile I don't bother I just turn up!! Works for me!!!

SMS (text message) reminders work great for our hair and beauty industry clients, in fact we've seen a big increase in sign ups this year from independent salons and dental surgeries using our system for reminders and text marketing.

Quite a few of the smaller/ home based customers were using their own phones with their free message allowance, but it's much more professional being able to have your salon name displayed as the sender. Web based systems also allow you to group your contacts and schedule messages up to a year in advance (so you could schedule AM and PM appointment reminders a few days at a time, or for courses of treatments).

The only trouble with the message credit packages you'd buy from a salon software provider is that they have to pay a healthy commission, and as such tend to cost quite a bit more than from independent companies like ours.

You can sign up for a free trial with us and use the 20 free credits to see if something like this works for you - that way you haven't committed to anything and could use the system to send 20 appointment reminders on us!

Quick question... do you offer an HTTP API or web service for sending text messages from a third party application?

yep - they all get a text. Even the most loyal reliable ones and they all appreciate it.

I never end mine with an 'x' though! :) :)

Jason.

I have been looking at puretxt...it looks good to me as it will put your name instead of a number on the text.

That's why I was wondering if they offered an API to connect to from an external application, as I'll be needing to integrate a suitable SMS gateway into the stuff I'm working on at the moment...
