I'm after some advice re nail repairs please.

When you're fully booked do you allocate a set amount of time for repairs?

I've never had many before but I'm now fully booked for a couple of weeks and my diary is getting busier I need to manage it well.

Depends on what they classify as a repair! If it's more then 15min then yes otherwise no, I just slot them in.

But I don't have any appointments which is why I asked how you manage your diary

Oh , well I would say then you have to make them come before you start or after work. I think you would need to keep like hour lunch or so free so if ever u need to fit someone in you can. Basically that how I used to work when I ran two salons. Not nice working 12hr straight but better then being quiet .

I generally do a 15 min gap but if you are full id
Put them in somewhere where you more than likely will be able to catch up like inbetween brow waxes so if you have a 15 min gap for a brow wax they only take upto 10 generally so if i had a brow wax in at 1.15 id say come for 1.20 you may just be waiting a few mins, then as soon as your done you can get on with nail repair and catch up with next brow app, obviously if you dont do a lot of brows etc id do it 10? Min on the end of a dinner or say come 10 min before ur due to finish ur last customer. X

I do nails so my appointments are much longer and little room for manipulation

I usually book 15 mins between appts, an hour at lunch, couple hours or so teatime etc. So I squeeze any repairs in either in the 15 min gaps or shave a bit off lunch/tea, or before I start or after I finish.

I will only ever tack them on to someone else's appt, giving me larger chunks of time to myself If poss.

Edit to add: when I send their reminder text the day before, I will say something like "is it still just one repair" then I can move them if we need more time. And when they book, it helps to establish if there's a tip to replace, or if it's just shellac peeled off, ie whether you're going to have to spend 10 mins soaking off a busted nail before you can replace. Ask enough questions when they book. Hth's

Thanks blossom. One particular client keeps losing crystals but nobody else ever does. There are lots on 4 fingers so I need to remove them, buff off the gel then soak off and replace the gel. It's not just a small repair to fit in and I'm full. This is the 3rd and last time.

These situations really annoy me [emoji35][emoji35][emoji35]

I'm exactly the same,I work through my lunches too so I can't even repair then! It's so annoying xx

I don't suppose you could lightly buff then dab top coat in the required places to set gems in, then topcoat again? Not touching the gel underneath?

Are you charging this person? If not, please do, and make it worth your while.

Yes I am and I'm not applying more crystals in future.

This is the 3rd time they've come off and I never have a problem with this. I have to remove them with old nippers!
I really don't want to replace the lost ones. I want them all off so they won't need replacing again.

My one client literally can't keep 3D decals on for more then 2 days and her nails always have issues with anything on top. Her sister says she chews her nails while watching tv and isn't even aware of it! So now I refuse to do any 3D stuff on her bcox as you have mentioned it waste of time and most annoying for you as the nail technician!

So good luck dealing with your client

Def sounds more trouble than it's worth

You also feel pretty deflated like all your hard work for nothing

I also got a no show today which really p'd me off as I had time doing nothing and now that's me just finished after starting at 9am.

Clients can be very insensitive ! I have this one client who is an estate agent who literally moans about ppl who make her waste time at house showing etc by she is ALWAYS 20min late for her appointment every single time! In 5years she come on time once only!

Just makes you laugh! So now I book her half hour after the time she thinks she has booked and seems to have solved the problem. She doesn't know that I do this! And still rushed in apologizing [emoji38][emoji38]I mean 5years not once you can make it on time!
