I am just about to take the plunge into spray tanning. The rep from a VERY high profile company recommended the earlex machine from argos until I get established. It costs around £60. I noticed a few of you have used this machine. Could I have your thoughts on it please. Did this do when you first started out or are you still using it. How noisy is it?

I Know that everyone raves about the mini mist but can't afford one at the minute with my start up order and cubicle too.

Thanks

if you do a search on argos im sure you'll get some interesting threads come up. I personally wouldnt touch one with a barge pole, far better to get the professional model if you are using it for a business - jmo x

Here here, a definate no no IMO

Janine don't waste your money - you can put the £60 towards a professional one! I'm sure plenty of geeks can give you some more ideas. Is there anything on geekbay?

will have a look. i well confused now. why is everything so complicated and so many different opinions. The unit in argos is the same as some of the tanning companies used. Just rang the manufacturer and they said the earlex 5002. has anyone heard of this?

The main difference between this and a compressor/hvlp machine is that the needle is much bigger causing more overspray and loss of profit to you. Many companies use these machines and you can buy them with the correct needle. I know Sol-Glo use them. Ive used one in the past and never had any problems except with the amount of overspray.
It was a good starting point, e.g cheap to start out until I made enough to convert to a more suitable machine.

Also look at Tantrick, their Mini-mist is 300 pounds to buy, but they sell it on an interest free option over twelves monthe which would be ideal for you.

Yes ive heard of it as i am in the same boat as you cant afford the minimist that everyone speaks highly off.But i have also noticed the same machine is in some kits on the web site.I did find some people on other threads that have used it and thought was good but only downfall you have to get a smaller nozzle direct from earlex and you probably use more liquid.

I was actually sprayed with one of these machines at the wk end and the its the best spray tan yet

:)

I used to have one of these machines and had the smaller needle from Earlex but the overspray was still horrendous. I converted to the minimist 3 months ago and it is the best thing I did.

You will definetely save money in the long run. For instance, with a 500ml bottle I would get approx 8/9 full body sprays - I am getting double that with the minimist.

Also I would never have gone mobile with the Earlex machine as I would have been terrified about the overspray. I now have my pop up tent (which couldn't catch all the overspray before as you had to spray so far away from the body) and it is fab - and people love the fact you can go to their house and then just put on a dressing gown.

I am doing the 12 month option and each month I am earning well over that amount to cover the payment !!

Earlex do make machines that are suitable for spray tanning but the one from argos is for creosoting fences!..., the spray pattern really isn't fine enough for spray tanning and you'll probably get masses of overspray, as i've said to countless people, overspray has nothing to do with solutions and everything to do with the density dial on your machine and also you spraying technique!. Best to wait a few months and save those pennies for a Mini Mist and Cubicle from the Spray Tan Cubicle Company www.spraytancubicle.com :Grope: Good Luck xxxxx

The spray tan cubicle co do the cubicle & mini mist for £380 plus Vat. should I just go for it and get this machine. Will I make my money back quickly. Its a bit daunting with so much initial outlay. Want to use fake bake solution as I love the manual tan they do and I think they are pretty well known.

Hi,
I recently brought the earlex machine on recommendation from a rep from the company you are talking about.
It is very noisy and hard to get exactly the correct spray.

Also the thing exploded in my face....and i ended up looking like a lepoard.Basically the bottom kept popping off while being used and as a result i have a very spotty spray tanning room.

I spoke to technical supportat earlex and they told me the solution is too fine for this type of machine and the company has been told to stop recommending this machine.

However my area rep said she has never had a problem with hers and we discovered i have the old style one, still being sold in argos, with a faulty container.

Earlex do sell a machine especially for spray tan solution and costs just £135 inc VAT(not avaliable through argos only via earlex or spray tan cubicle company).

I'm taking the old one back.I'm not very happy as imagine what damage could of been done to my face had i of had paint/gloss in that machine.I'm going to get the other one.

By the way fake bake it what i have been using and it is fantastic.Faultless.
I would never use anything else now.The solution is affordable and if you charge £20 for a full body you have coveredthe cost of the solution after two full bodies.Wicked profit!

Ha ha ha, well spotted Judy. I always do things back to front. Well I think I am gonna go for the mini mist. I am going to ring them in the morning and order. Hope I am doing the right thing. I am so looking forward to getting started and hopefully it will get me some clients for nails.

theirs plenty of earlex minimists for £100 on ebay, not 2nd hand though brand new.x
