A lot of people are really impressed by a perfect polish tbh.

Very few things look as classy or as nice to be honest, Judy. I agree.

AND you can do any colour of tip you want with polish or glitter polishes and it doesn't have to be a big performance when you want to get rid of it.

I find many of these glitter things get 'old' very quickly and the client wants rid. What looks good for a night out looks pretty awful when wearing trackie bottoms and trainers!!

around 65-70 % of my clients have something other tthan plain pink and whites or natural.

I can see why, gets a bit boring when everyone has the same thing doesn't it? I've got loads of people who want nail art after they've seen mine, it's just that the technicians in the salons in my area can't do it.

Thanks, angel. When you say your clients want more, can you give us a few examples, please? x

glitter tips, gitter fades, french with handpainted art, french with additional 3d work, glitter with 3d, glitter french with nail art.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to reply. It's all food for thought when planning what you need to 'Rehearse' for future use.

To anyone who is struggling to get models, though, I would recommend catching their eye with colour work of some description. I wanted more practise, especially with French, and I've now got a few more pairs of non paying hands lined up. My slightly 'Off the wall' set initiated more conversations and interest. Not everyone would agree with this, I know, but the way I see it is that they're getting the nails and I get their time at my table. It's an exchange I'm happy to make until I'm satisfied with my nails and my timings. Hopefully, everyone is a winner! :) x

in my salon pink and whites with a soft white are most popular although now its coming into spring time a few clients are changing this to bright white for a fresher look. A few clients who've had french nails on for yrs are now changing to glitter tips. Most only want a bit of simple nail art on 1 or 2 fingers. However when it comes to toes its a diff matter. People will go for mad glittery colors on their toes.
You also have to think on the time it takes to do a design, if a set takes yu 3 hrs and you want to be making a least £25 an hr then who is going to pay that money for a set of nails.
However if you can do something that no other salon can then it gives you an edge over your competition. Plus doing intricate design work will hone your skills and enable you better control over your everyday nails.
As for them being too zany for the normal person to wear - I think of it as like fashion, you wuldnt wear some of the designs straight of the catwalk but you'd wear something which has had a few ideas filtered out. A design can be watered down to be more wearable!
Sometimes those who can do fab designs cant do great pink and whites and vice versa, so everyone has their speciality!
