Hi everyone.

I wondered if anyone can help. I am doing an assignment on health and safety and working in the hair industry and I am STRUGGLING to find an employees rights and responsibilities when it comes to confidentiality. I know it should be simple but everything I look up is client focused where my task asks for employees!! Please help thanks in advance x

Hiya. As a general rule if you're looking for hints about where to look have a look in your assessment book where it says performance criteria, range statements and underpinning knowledge. They do give hints about what they're looking for. You could also look at your professional bodies code of ethics with regards to privacy and confidentiality. Both data protection act and freedom of information acts and also the new General Data Protection Regulations. You need to keep physical records in locked filing cabinets for a specified period of time after their last visit for HSE audit and insurance purposes. Computer records need to be kept under password protection with restricted access. If you hold records or information about any other person you will need to be registered as the data controller with the protection officer.
