im doing my beginners shellac course at the beginning of March and I'm currently revising for the online test.

The text book is huge! Who knew there was so much to learn?! I have one year old twins, so my brain is mostly mush now. I have no idea how to make all this information go into my head and stay there!

Can anyone who has done the course recently reassure me that the test isn't too bad? Do they really expect us to remember everything in that text book?

I done the befonners course in January and was the same, I read the whole thing and it wouldn't stick so had googled to see if I could find any info on what the test was like but no such luck! It's randomly generated so everyone's is different but the questions are quite detailed! There were a lot of tricky questions but make sure you read up on your infections, bones wrist fingers hands arms toes etc and Cnd products!! I got loads of these types of questions but there was definitely questions from every section on the book, the glossary is quite helpful, and you do it at home so you may have time to have a quick look if you're unsure. Each question (there are 85) is timed also I'm sure it was 35-40 secs per question and you need 70% to pass! Also there is a second quiz at the end of the 1st day which you do at home also, but I found this much easier to sit even though it was the same standard of questions because you do a lot of theory in class! Good luck

Thank you! I think I'd better read the text book a few more times before doing the test

Hello,

I had a small baby while I was revising. I choose to use flash cards...I find bullet points much easier to remmember than long sentances! When you have a spare 1/2 you can just keep flicking through them, also I found it help lodge them into my brain when your hand writing them all out! Also very handy to have spead out when you come to take your exam.

Your'll be fine! :)

That's a good idea! I've got some little cards somewhere!

I recently did this course I write out a few post it notes and stuck them around my computer screen. Just things like names of bones and name of each nail condition and brief description of what they look like, tbh I didn't really use them but just having them there calmed my nerves. Good luck! Xx

Good luck OP for your course! I think hooray that it's hard aren't you glad there's a lot to learn!? Education is key!
When you actually look into nails in depth, you realise how much science there is behind just "doing nails" & quashes this "it's only painting nails, how hard can it be!? I'll do em for a tenner!" attitude! At home DIY kits, non standard salons & insufficient training has led us down the path of it being an easy way to earn a quick buck! Having decent & correct training will give you the foundation for something wonderful!! Soak up the knowledge & Enjoy! [emoji4]

Oh, I definitely think it's a good thing that it's a challenge - that's part of why I decided to train to do something completely different to what I've done before.

I guess I just didn't expect my brain to melt while learning the theory It's been a while since I studied anything and the twin baby brain struggle is real

Everyone's replies have just made me realise that I need a plan! I have 11 days before my course, so I'm going to spend the next week attacking the text book one section at a time and then take the test next week so that I have time to do it again if I need to

Have a friend or partner test you randomly! Remember nothing worth having comes easy! [emoji6]xx

Just a quick update! I got bored of stressing out about this, so I just did it and passed with 90%
