So glad i found this thread as ive just started my course and had the same trouble but only on the middle finger:grr:

Mine does my head in all the time - has been very close to flying through the window have to say!

try unfolding one of the gauze pads that you put your scrub fresh on and placing that under the nail first so that when it clips in it has a snugger fit. Then press down for the three clicks and slide the nail back as far as it will go.
Works for Things middle finger:lol:
