You do make me laugh minky and I do get the moments of "if Dawn could see me" ha ha

I used to use bleach 40 until I came on here and now i even avoid bleach and 30 as much as I can now. I find if I am using a decent bleach then 20 works brilliantly. I ran out of blondor and blondme the other day and bought another brand in salon services and I notic the difference so much!!!

Hey Kimmi :)
I ran out of bleach once and bought and own brand cheaper one .... it lifted strawberry red hair to a lovely creamy white with 20 vol and so very fast too ..... but it stank of ammonia  the highlights were really nice though .... but I don't use that particular brand any more it was way too stinky .... for minky lol x

Am now the hair police eh?

Swell this is a well known brand but is nowhere near wat I am used to. It's actually what I used to use in the old salon but now I notice it's not lifting as well at all. I have changed peroxide too but everything else is fine except the bleach!

I worked with a girl whos hair was all snapped off, wanted me to fix it but wouldn't bleach her hair with anything less than 40vol cos she only put it on for 20 mins. She was a base 8 and asked me why was it snapping???? Ehhhhh.......we starts highlighting with high lift and condition improved but when she left she started re bleaching and hey presto in 6 months it's "not grown"

If Minky wants to have an "ashes to ashes" revival, I am not gonna criticize! I bow to your superior experience Minks.

I have burnt all my highlighting caps years ago after a trainee jammed the hook into her mum's head and I had to get it out.

Minky you coming to salon international???

Aww no Kimmi , I cant make it but I posted on your wall because the convo is only between us two Hairmessers lol ..... but wait.. I shall change it all around and ask .....

are any others going to salon international too ?

so the Mods won't have to move it around for us
lol hope that's ok now :) minky

I love to talc it well with baby powder before I put it away again as it hardly ever comes back out poor thing ... exept for the occasional use :)
Plus I always clean any bits of old scalps off the end of my hook with alcohol before I re use it again Lol minks

Believe it or not, my local college teaches all students to foil with 12% AND to cook it for 50mins. To even add heat!

I have had to re-educate all my staff in this matter. Considering I have employed 10 staff, it is a shocking discovery. I am talking recently qualified staff. :(

That's very bad practice but not surprising
They probably use up old dregs of the 40 vols peroxide that the students leave the tops off :smack:
One of these days the students are gonna find that new 40 vols and the clients will sizzle with the heat and have no hair left

I still use 40 when needed and have never ever had over proccessed or frazzeled hair ! I usually use 20/30 for foils and have had to leave it it on for longer to get the desired amount of lift and I think the hair was in poorer cond.

I use Matrix bleaches and get good results with 20/30 but sometimes on resistant hair I use 40 and this is as per the instructions and get good results and I have never had jelly hair as a result, but checking the hair every 10 minutes is essential so not to over process.

There is such a huge difference between budget bleach and a quality bleach.
