Hi i lifted my clients hair to level 9 with bleach and used a 8.1 to tone it down as it was a bit light for her yellowish. But after using this she had greyish tones streaking through. How could i have avoided this and how can i achieve a cool blonde look at level 8 easier in future. Was it something i done wrong. I use majirel. Thanks

Majirel is not for toning . If you use the loreal range then dialight is for toning . X

The salon i trained at used all colours for toning, they didnt specially use a toner :/ but they used framesi so thought it was either something id done wrong or the range i use. Ill take a look at the dialight
Thank you :)

Looking at the photo i uploaded, what shade do you think i should have gone for?

The problem is an uneven canvas. Tone the bright yellow down, and the level 10 is overtoned. You need one even shade, not a patchy stripy mess.

I only done the roots as i was correcting someone elses work as her roots were orange. I lightened them an wanted to tone an match them nearer enough her mid length and ends

You must have pulled it through onto old bleach to get grey bits

Ok thats wat went wrong then. Thank you. I was thinking it could have been the porosity of her hair and maybe i shouldn't have used majirel to tone either but iv only done wat iv been taught. My boss never used actual toners only colours and mixs. Im newly qualified

Yea it was because the old bleached areas were more porous :) in general for the future use the semi/Demi in the range your working with for toning, did you go to college or do your training in salon?

Here is how my client come to me and the right picture is after me lightening her hair. I manged to tone it from a yellow but not quite as dark as her mid length and ends. Wat would you suggest?

In level 2 you would have covered toning with Demi's/semis see if you can find your old notes or text book just to brush up, working alongside salon owners has its good and bad points, toning with perm colours is one of those bad habits the owner had that you don't need lol, like mine used to put bleach in high lift... Completely unnecessary & doesn't mean I have to do it :)

Is this a root colour or foiled?

She sed she had foils and then the hairdresser used a base colour on her roots she sed :/ which left them orange and told her it was because her hair was so dark.( Her natural colour is a level 5 ) all i did was lighten her roots and toned from yellow but she wants it to match her mid length. I didnt cover much toning in level 2 only the colour wheel etc x

I think foils with a spatch in between would be best for this client to even it all out, as for bumping the root Inbetween the foils I personally won't do it on such a dark client because it does tend to go gold

She doesn't like her dark hair so that's why they done it i think. I did suggest an all over colour but she wasnt too keen . whats a spatch x

I get what u mean now! Lol. Shall i colour the whole section?

I'd wait till she has roots again tell her no more bumping the base (unless you can find a foolproof way, if u do please tell me about it lol) do a full head of fine weaves (so a bazillion foils) then the hair that's left out Inbetween the foils spatch the colour she likes (whatever that dark tone is on the pic) if you spatch every single left out hair it will appear equally as dark as light, if you do every other (so miss one left out section Inbetween) it will be more subtle (I think this is the best option for this client) and if you wanted a more subtle look again do every 3rd left out weave

Spatch is a tool like a paddle with a comb on top you put the free hair into it with the comb at the root start painting the section at the comb whilst dragging it down to the ends, it's a much more natural way to beak up blonde than flooding
