Hi all
I have been thinking for a few years about a career change and about becoming a nail technician - it fascinated me tbf! I’ve decided it’s now or never. I’ve looked into courses and there are so many about. There are online distance learning, 5 day courses, local college courses and the more I look into it the more confused I get. There are gel courses acrylic courses, etc. I want to be able to do as much as possible so that when I do get up and running I can offer clients a choice.

Can anyone give me any advice?? I get that much information overload I keep just putting it to one side until later.

Many thanks in advance

Vicky

If you have no specifics in mind and want to learn everything then I suggest a further education college course is the way to go. It will give you a good basic grounding in all aspects, is recognised by insurance companies and taken over time to learn. Once this is under your belt you will instinctively be drawn to a particular service be it Gel, Gel Polish, Hybrid, etc. then you can start specialising and honing your skills with brand specific or 1-2-1 training.

Get a cuppa and sit and read through previous threads, there and hundreds and hundreds about training, good and bad. The main thing to understand about training is 'good training ain't cheap, and cheap training ain't good'. No-one can teach you to be a nail technician in 1/2/3 days. It's very easy to get ripped off in the world of nails, none more so than in training.

Once you've read everything feel free to post any questions for clarification or recommendations. The search option is really useful for specific brand names, etc.
