After reading the previous post by kittenclaws http://www.thenailgeek.com/chit-chat/28350-im-doing-breast-cancer-walk-again-please-help.html?highlight=breast+cancer (please keep supporting her, just follow the link) I looked into the Aviva Weekend to Breakthrough Breast Cancer which involves a 60km walk around London over 2 days in September.

As some of you know, my mum was recently diagnosed with breast cancer & is now undergoing chemotherapy. She is now the fourth person in my family to have this disease. It is a terrible thing to see someone go through, especially when there is nothing you can do to help. Well, I can't do anything to help my mum except be there to support her, but there is something I can do to help other women (& men too) in the future. I have now signed up to take part in the walk myself. All the money that is raised goes towards research into treating breast cancer.

To take part, all walkers have to raise a minimum of £1500. My website is now set up & ready to receive donations so I am asking you to PLEASE SPONSOR ME! You can donate as little or as much as you like or can spare. Please remember that all donations go to a good cause & hopefully together we can 'Breakthrough Breast Cancer'.

To donate, just click this link:

Thanks & don't forget to support kittenclaws too!

Thanks for the messages of support guys. I finally received my fundraising pack & have starting collecting. Think I'm doing pretty well so far, though most of my money has been donated in cash so doesn't appear in my meter yet.

I have been around local businesses & emailed local football clubs to request donations or raffle prizes but I am wondering if any of you geeks can think of anyone else I should be approaching or any ideas to help my fundraising. My next plan is a pamper day in my salon to raise money through treatments. All suggestions will be gratefully received!

not really got any suggestions chick but good luck x x

See if your local radio station will do a aution with treatments that you offer, we had one in blackpool and it worked good luck

Thanks Julie. I am thinking of getting my local station involved somehow but not sure what to approach them with. As long as they don't want me to say talk! :Scared:

Thanks for the donation Vicki!

You guys are probably sick of hearing about this but thought I'd add a quick update to let you know how my fundraising is going.

My personal goal is set at £2000, so far I have collected £420. That's over 20%! My clients have been really good & I've had a few raffle prizes donated too. Hopefully I'll be able to exceed my goal by September. Thanks again for the messages of support.

Well guys, I have now exceeded the minimum amount I needed to raise to take part in the walk, I have over £1600 in the fund, plus about £150 that hasn't gone in yet, so well on the way to achieving my goal. :D

We also got some good news last week. My mum has had her operation & the reults came back, they got all the cancer cells & her lymph nodes are clear, so it hasn't spread. She still has radiotherapy to go, but at least the chemo & op are out of the way. Still a while till we get the final all clear but it's good news.

nic i'm so pleased to hear your mum is ok.

if you need anything you know where we all are.

Thanks hun, what I really need now is a kick up the backside to do some more training! :D

get to creative next monday - gigi will give you a kick up the bum (or just inspire you)!

Unfortunately, mondays don't work for me as I work  or I'd have loved to.

Im trying to raise money for the Macmillan nurses who do a fab job of looking after Cancer patients. I have a friend who just lost a niece who was being cared for by the Macmillan nurses but unfortunatley not for long. She couldnt praise them enough.
Good luck to all fundraisers.
