I done the hot water method with my brush last night and today when i tried my brush out, its all soft and the hairs are separating and doesnt pick up beads well. Why is this? do i need a new brush?

Hiya...you might do.

How many times have you done it and how long did you put it in the water for..?

I used this meathod on one of my gel brushes and it was fine....may be different with L&P brushes..xxxx

I too have used this method then I had to train my brush dipping it into monomer and training it into a nice paddle...it can take a time may be a bit more patience is needed with this brush, best if luck.

hth

i dipped it in a few times, now its soft, the flags are a bit seperated when i pick up a bead.

Dip again then wipe once twice three times on the side of your dappen dish and if iots not good still then dip again and wipe again until the bristiles are neat once again

I did this last night and left it until this morning. Have dipped in monomer and tried to train it but it doesnt feel right when i practised on a few tips. thanks for the advice. though.

Just called the shop where i get my stuff from and they havent any pro stylers in stock, i have a girl booked in at 12, should i still go ahead and do her nails. Will they turn out ok, or should i cancel her. help!!

What on earth is 'the hot water method'????

A l&p brush should never have anything but monomer on it

It's not our fault!!

Gigi said we could do it!! LOL!! Not that I'm pointing fingers or anything!!

It's up to you hun! how confident do you feel? Is that the only brush youhave, do yu have a spare one hiding anywhere?

I have a spare one! I won't be able to get it to you for 12 though!

i have never heard of putting your brush in hot water , i was told you shouldnt put it in anything exept monomer, :) so what is this method then i am all intrigued now

Phew, found this in another post that Gigi had written!!! HTH!

THIS TIME ONLY BECAUSEIT IS AN EMERGENCY ----- Strip any old product out of your brush by dipping into ScrubFresh or Acetone a few times. Then swish the brush around in very very hot water from the kettle, flatten and/or shape the brush to the shape you like (making sure the hairs are lying straight) and then leave to dry overnight lying flat not upright.

Many people 'twist' the brush as they work and cause the hairs to not know which way they are supposed to lie .. and so they split apart.

Always hold your brush the same way and train it to work with the brush hairs always straight not twisted.

This method should be used for emergencies and not every day!!

But similar to heating your own hair to curl it or straighten it, the brush will respond also to heat (It is hair too) Should save you the cost of a new brush.

Hi Marian
I did use this method once to save my new brush as my ratio was all wrong and it got gummed up.

I soaked it in monomer to not availl so I took extreme measures and I dipped the brush into acetone to loosen the cured product then flushed the brush with hot water and gently pulled it through clean ktichen towell followed by kind of priming the brush in clean monomer and training it back to its former glory.

Only had to do this once thank fully but it did the trick.

I thought this was a new application method!!!! E.g dip your brush in hot water to speed up the cure :smack:

Well, you learn something every day and I always like that!

Mind you, as it is described as for emergencies only, it sounds like an 'if all else fails' scenario that sometimes doesn't work but worth a try.

I too would only suggest if all else fails - your brush will never be the same if you touch a solvent to it. Hot water or steam may be a little bit better - but still not desirable.

Good luck ;)

oh thanks everyone for their replies, i went ahead and used my brush for the clients i had on friday, and everything was ok. It just felt a little softer like it was holding loads of monomer, but i managed it anyway. Wont be doing that again in a hurry to my new brush!
