In April I'll have been working from home a year doing nails and I'm just wondering ladies that work from home or are mobile what are you busy and non busy months? now don't get me wrong considering I only started nearly a year ago I was fully booked at Christmas I get my regulars and I'm in profit but I'm struggling to keep clients coming in everyday. I've done nails everyday this week part from Monday but I'm very quiet next week and I really miss doing nails when I have noone in. I was wondering if Jan is a bit of a rubbish month after Christmas I only specialise in gel polish
( Shellac or ilac) so was thinking maybe I need to add some of my beauty qualifications to my clients. Or if anyone else struggles this time of year.

Hi Sam, I too have just completed my first year working from home. I always go dead during the school holidays

The longer you have been trading the more bookings even out over the year. Run promotions during the quiet times to keep you ticking over.

Christmas and early summer I find to be the busiest. Fortunately I'm at that point where a I rarely have days without clients anymore but I have now been working from home for 4 years now. Use your quiet days for trying It new techniques, do some marketing such as design some promotional leaflets then get delivering them, online promotions etc

January is always quieter, perhaps its not really its just not as busy as before Christmas so feels quiet.

I use January to get on top of my accounts, clean out cupboards, catch up on personal admin, etc. It will pick up again i promise

Thanks ladies like i say ive been very very lucky with how busy ive been so far so cant really complain it's just when you go from doing so many to a bit of a slow down, im still keeping on top of my advertising esepcially on social media and my facebook page is doing well just need them extra appointments :)

I said this the other day....I think it feels quieter than it is after the mania that is December lol

My January def IS quieter, I find even die hard regulars sometimes have a break while they recover financially from Christmas and often new clients will make an infill appt for January and then cancel it

Trouble is I look at my diary at the beginning of the week and tot it up, then if/when anyone cancels it's literally like £££ notes flying out the door

I'm always fully booked from April - end of July and xmas but I find my eyebrow and shellac customers come every 3-4 weeks regardless of time of year so I am pretty busy all year round, I find that pushing facials and massages through Jan and Feb is a good way of keeping busy as a lot of people are detoxing and and want to get their skin looking good.

Would it work if you ran a promotion in October to pay for next January's appointment in advance but get £5 off or a free gift like a small nail oil?.

I agree re promotions/offers. I don't do them as a rule as my prices are very reasonable but have done 20% off in Jan for clients that came in November or December and 10% for all new clients :)
