hi all after 3 months i gave up renting my room this week although the rent was reasonable (room is in a hairdressers) it turned out to be more of a shampoo and set shop, and i really wasnt getting the interest i hoped for, i will be doing a couple of the regular nail clients at home so will have a little bit of income hopefully, i'm thinking of going mobile now as i think that money is probably better spent on advertising ,what does anyone think of this? did i just pick the wrong place to rent?(people were quite happy with my work and i got some "word of mouth " clients) sorry to go on but i feel like i failed a bit.

Hi Joolz
I wont say that you failed at all. You tried the renting a space thing in a shop right? Well perhaps that in particular didnt work because it sounds to me like the salon was not a very busy one. So thats not really your fault!

As you suggested - try going mobile and working from home, that sounds good to me!

If you weren't trying anything at all, that in itself is a failure!

Give yourself a pat on the back and plod on!!! xx

you say you were getting clients throuygh word of mouth, well there yu go yu don't get these if you are producing crap work. It sounds as though like Andrea said maybe THAT shop wasn't for you. WOuld you not consider moving into another salon?

I am mobile and ebjoy it, but i must admit i do get a bit tired of moving about packing everything and the kitchen sink into the car and then unloading it again, then you ned to set up.

Try it and see what you think, yu will soon know if yu are going to enjoy mobile. i know its easier said than done (i know) but try not to doubt yurself.
