The best thing to learn with Calgel is how to sculpt, then you have no tips,no blending to worry about and they are much stronger.

Its not easy at first and i do think you need to get to know the gel first and get your routine in place before you start to learn to sculpt.

Then its just practice and being confident. There will be times when you take your foils off and the whole nail comes with it,or you have a big step in it that you have to fill but eventually you will have a perfect nail with very little filing to do and it is so impressive for you and the client i love each and everyone one of my little sculpts..how sad :)
No honestly its very satisfying and very worthwhile to do....and eventually a piece of cake ..just do it.

Again this is what i do...great minds think alike, lol:lol:

I love the look of a sculpted nail, and no it is not sad i also love each and everyone of my little sculpts too lol...however i am booked at the end of next month doing a refresher in tips and troubleshooting with Robyn, actually i am doing alot of training next month....brain overload:eek:
The one thing i love about calgel is it's strength as a soft gel...unbeatable as far as i can see!

This is exactly what i should probably do because i have this opinionated view that calgel is not that good over tips and its probably just that i need to do a bit more training on how to actually do them over tips. and its not the calgel its me.

Too many times the technician blames the product but with a little tewaeking and some education the problem could be rectified!

I have only done a couple of sets with tips at the moment and i have made them fairly short but still looking aesthetacally enhanced, and building an apex using the three suasage method.I also drum into them homecare like the bible, and have contacted them inbetween appontments, and so far so good.....:)

However i do not like calgel tips,i have used CND velocity,as the wells on calgel are fuller i prefer a smaller well for more even coverage.

I use calgel over pro impression well less tips, so long as you build a good apex you'll have no probs at all.

I sculpt repairs but actually find it cheaper to tip with calgel as its expensive. (but worth it !)

ditto with the scuplting SO MUCH stronger than tips.....and quicker!

I love sculpting but have to admit i don't do alot of it!

Do you all charge more for sculpting?

I was always under the impression that tips and sculpts should be of the same strength if built correctly ?

I charge the same, but it takes me a hell of alot longer to tip than sculpt,i have come to the conclusion i would sculpt rather than tip, however i have not done a nail biter....yet,so will come to that bridge when if and when i cross it:eek:

I know that there is a workshop in sculpting for a nail biter with Robyn,so will endevaour to ask when i am up at calgel the end of the month.:)

Incidentally i charge 30 for sculpts.Normally takes me about 1 hr 45 mins, tips take me about 2 and a half!
