Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me I've been using dermalogica products religiously and my skin has been great but.... For some reason recently I have more and more broken capillaries coming up any ideas on how to stop this and what could be causing this could it be to much micro daily exfoliant?? Any advice would be great as it's getting worse and yes I smoke /-(

The capillaries under your skin are very delicate so they can be damaged in a number of ways- and unfortunately once they are damaged there's no easy way to repair them (I think cosmetic surgeries can get rid of them with lasers but it's best to avoid them in the first place). Sometimes broken capillaries are unavoidable but they can be caused by temperature change and being too rough with your skin. So if your having hot showers and saunas or squeezing spots and blackheads then that could also be part of the problem but your exfoliator could also be the culprit.

You could try being a bit more gentle with your skin particularly when you're using your exfoliator and you could switch to using a chemical exfoliant and try to cut down the amount you use a physical exfoliant (if it's got grains in it's a physical exfoliant, chemical exfoliants use acids or enzymes and tend to be leave on products)- you don't need to be doing heavy duty exfoliating daily, personally I use a chemical exfoliant 2/3 times a week and I gently buff off my cleanser each night with a soft flannel and I find that that's enough exfoliation for my skin.

Forgot to mention there are a few underlying heath problems that could make you more prone to broken capillaries- vitamin k deficiency is one so get some leafy green vegetables if you're not eating them already, I'm afraid I can't remember anything else off the top of my head but if you cut down on the exfoliation and you're still getting more broken capillaries it might be time to see a dr.

Thanks that's very helpful I'm considering lasering but very expensive!!

Environ skincare can radically improve the signs of broken capillaries. Look for a local salon. We offer a full money back guarantee on our skincare, and reinforce this with regular visits from our Environ skin analyst who uses a Visia machine to show the improvements made under the skin's surface.
If you can find a salon near you, it may be worth a visit - and just FYI, Environ don't recommend anything abrasive on the skin, so I really would cut down/out exfoliation!
