I know someone who has had a break from wearing enhancements for over 6 months now.

just now we have noticed that her lanula is not quite the perfect shape it was its become crooked rather than a smooth clear edge at the fartest point and there are ridges that seem to be getting worse.

She has had no phyiscal trauma in the last 6 months so why could this be occuring.

NB no medation other than contraception being taken, good diet, rubber glover wearer

Hi - thought I'd bump this up

Hi Louise

I don't know if this is the same thing but my lunula on my left hand has changed shape as well and this happened after my bad experience with my tech who used a drill on my nails. My nails were sore for six months after my enhancements had been taken off but no actual nail plate damage surprisingly enough.

Like I said, don't know if it's the same thing.

had a look in 'the complete nail technician 2nd edition'...

People who have a large exposed lunula usually have very ridged nailswhich is often more noticable on the thumbs. This is due to continual trauma from everyday living.

it goes on to say about being very careful when doing a manicure as pressing too hard in the area of the lunula can cause a ridge.

Is she a manic cleaner Louise? maybe she is knocking that part of her fingers/thumbs without even realising it.

Thanks for the reply
this was a consideration but she says only now and again did she get caught by a file - there are no marks across the nail to show damage from over filing so I am at a loss :(

Hi Sandi,
Thanks for the input.
I will take a look at her lunulas from memory that aren't that expossed, but will let you know.

Louise
