Hi ladies

So I did a french mani yesterday on a client, cured with UV 36 watts, sealed it well, capped free edge, and today she sent me a pic that the white has chipped off, like nail polish!!! So bad!
I use the same product on myself and I am very rough working with thinners and acetone even and mine stays, what Can I do to help improve gel wear durability?

Which gel polish are you using? Are you using the full system and are you ensuring that your coats are really thin?

If you have some pics you can post on here so we can take a look

Thanks so much. I am using Gel It, made in SA by Maskara,...I use the whole 3 step system.

It lasts about 2-3 weeks on myself and I am also a doll artist working with thinners, acetone and turps daily.

Now this client, send this pic, but it was only her right hand, left hand fine...so I am new to this and need help!!

What could have caused it? I sealed it well, capped free edge well....

It could be client being heavy handed with her dominant hand .
Or painted a bit to thick.
I had a client who right hand always chipped but her left hand was ok . Turns out her right hand she uses all the time to clean etc . So i use structure gel just on her right hand .

Agreed with Oni, looks like it's only on the 2 fingers as well. Could she perhaps have been picking at something or using her nails as tools perhaps?

I had a client a while back that messaged me after a few days saying that 2 of her nails chipped, turns out she was trying to scratch a label off a water bottle while running her hand and the bottle under hot water for a a good couple of mins

No you applied the white too thickly
It's highly pigmented and this can crack or happens with this brand which you have been raving about on salon geek.

I suggest you contact your rep or distributor and ask them for assistance.

Thanks I have asked for assistance, I await the reply. I do love this brand and it works super well on myself and clients, this is the first chipping issue I have had. But yes perhaps I have applied it too thick and will try to do thinner layers. As I am new to the industry I value all inputs and opinions. Thanks so much. May I ask what gel system you prefer?

Jan you using a gel polish by the looks of the website information I looked into the system but still always will use Calgel. I won't change .
Gel polish is Nsi polish pro and the white can also crack if applied too thickly as shown in your picture, due to being so highly pigmented, and the natural nail bending the colour cracks this can happen with chrome pigments too.
So for French I only use Calgel white. And the problem doesn't happen because Calgel is flexible and allows a lot of natural movement of the nail.

Also to note some clients do tend to for instance when they have kids they sit on the ground or paving and when they get up they use their hand and nails which can scratch and scrape, depending on how Honest your client is she should tell you but most people like free things so they will low and say they woke up and it was lying on their pillow...
