hi there
im new at nails and wanted to learn to be a pro like you guys and am stuck as for what course
i live just outside london and know i can go to crerative in milton keynes which i know loads of you recomend but at like £500+ its quite a lot of dosh
just seen in my local paper a city and guilds course - City & Guilds Manicure Certificate Weekend which covers from the booklet : This is a part-time course that runs on a Saturday morning. It is aimed at those wishing to gain a professional qualification in Manicure. It covers all aspects of hand and nail-care, including French manicure, nail repairs and false nails

what do you think- or stick with saving for creative???

You should do a manicure certificate really then you will learn about the skin and bones, etc contra indication etc salon hygiene, all of these are neccessary, and if you want to do nails then you should really have a manicure & pedicure certificate or your insurance will not cover you. City & guilds is a recognised qualification, but i would save as well to go with one of the product companies for training in nails enhancements.

do you have any idea if the city and guilds would teach nail enhancements

also if i did the c+g would i then be able to go on the creative conversion course or would i still have to do the foundation
its so confusing!!!!!

Hello!

I did both. The manicure is extremely helpful as you will learn all about the nail and make a portfolio.
The Creative L&P is great- loved it. The nail was not gone into in depth as alot of it is background reading-so much to learn would not be able to do it all in one go. The content may have change since the course has been updated.
If you can afford to, I would say do both. Remember, once you get into training it is for life-everything is an add-on and will complement each other!

so you have done a city and guildds is that what you mean- do you learn l+p etc on it?

no you dont learn l&P on a manicure course it is just manicure but you should get a good grounding which will aid you on your foundation course which would be the next step. if you do a VCTC then you can do a converrsion course.

hope this hasnt confused you too much

a little

so why does it say nail application? im still waiting on the brochure arriving- maybe i will just do the creativefoundation as you do anatomy etc on there too

But you dont do manicure unless you do the manicure & pedicure course with creative, so would need to do thsi in addition so you can carry out these treatments on your clients.

When you get the booklet you will probably get a better idea of course content, but just remember that you will be only taught with a particular product so probably will not be able to buy another companies products unless you convert to them. its an expensive game nails im afraid.

i think i get you now

just onemore question - in the creative do you learn like manicure /ped or not - is it just false nails?

but one you have learnt with them you can buy their stuff
also have you heard of pro nails??

With creative if you do the foundation this entitles you to learn then buy the system you want to use ie, brisa gel, liquid & powder or Fabric, then the spamanicure & spa pedicure course is another course, you buy your kits and get the training free with them.

have heard of pro nails but never used it may be woth doign a search to see what you can find out on the site about them.
