Me again , what do you use to disinfect and sanitize tools for gel polish?

Barbecide for metal tools and Mundo file spray for files

I personally use mundo as I have carpets, but I have read from a reliable source (Schoon. D) that you can use bleach if you dilute it 10 parts water to one of bleach. Regular bleach containing 5-6% Sodium Hypochlorite should be diluted into 1:10 ratio and concentrated bleach at 12% concentration should be diluted at 1:12. Reduced or low odour bleach containing 4% hypochlorite should not be used as salon disinfectant.

For bleach to work properly, you need to clean your tools properly like with any other disinfectant, it is easily inactivated by organic material. The downside of using bleach is that higher concentrations will corrode metals, plastics and rubber.

There should be a guideline set in place by the government or council as I believe it’s called in England about how salon hygiene should be executed so try to have them send over their regulations. It’s so different from place to place (which is the dumbest thing ever). In Norway we are under the regulation of hair salons, tattoo and piercing shops and spa/beauticians. It usually states what you need to do. But booth of the previous replies are what the standard is. Just remember you need to always wash all implements that your disinfecting in warm soapy water and rinse well. If not the disinfectant liquid will not work optimally. So many techs just use Barbicide and don’t sanitise first.
