I've definitley found that when removing Minx I always get white marks on my nails. I remove them properly and still I get this. It's always something that's bothered me about Minx actually and I've told clients how to remove it properly and yet I still see them with the same marks on their nails. I think some of them won't have Minx again because of it.

I'll maybe do a "Care of Minx" flyer to pass to clients in the New Year, just so they are aware of how to remove them. Some are a bit silly and forget 4-6 weeks down the road then blame the product. However I think S2 should make some flyers too.

hi, new to S.G so here goes...
i recently bought the minx nails and think they are amazing, however, i did one client and they apparantly 'fell off' in the bath that same night.
is this possible? they were on her natural nails. iv had mine on a week now and they are still perfect, and thats after showering, bathing my son, washing up etc. and my other clients have all been happy wioth theirs. is she lying?

It's not possible. They physically cant fall off IF they have been applied properly. From what I have read, most have admitted to pulling off after a long time. SolarOil and 1200 side of the Koala get rid of any dehydration but pulling from side to side can take up some of the plate IF not heated properly. HTH@s

I wore them on my fingers during christmas week, shampooing loads of clients. Not even a little lift. Only removed them cos I scuffed one by picking at something. I can safely say I have tested them thoroughly in hot water!

why oh why do some people try to make out we are thick.........floating off my a***

Am glad not the only one that has noticed the stress marks/dehydration marks when the Minx have been removed. I definately do think it is down to poor removal but needed it confirming. I removed my own set a couple of weeks ago, i was in a bit of a hurry and i think i didnt warm them under the lamp for long enough. As my dehydration marks have grown up the nail plate my nails have peeled or flaked at the free edge and been sensitive to knocks. Again i stress that i believe that is due to them not being warm enough during the removal process. Can i ask whether people are removing them from cuticle to free edge or nail wall to nail wall please?

And again I love Minx, I think they are a great product/idea. My toes lasted 9 weeks! I now have Blue Lightning on my toes and I dont think I ever want to take them off!:)

hi there, just thought i'd sign up to this site so I could comment on this thread!
I had my nails done with minx today and I had a bath roughly 9 hours later and to my dismay, 4 of my minx nails fell off straight away and the others began to peel from the top of the nail!

so your client might not have been fibbing as I can say the same thing happened to me!

Minx is a heat activated adhesive and if the bath water is hot enough and they were not applied correctly then this can happen. Also if you are rubbing your feet together while in the bath or rubbing excessively with your flannel over your toes in a hot bath you can actually loosen the product inadvertently.
Were they actually minx that you had applied by a reputable salon?

I'm glad you guys are noticing this, I had mine on for what seemed forever (and was very happy they stayed on that long).

But they did give me very dry patches when I pulled them off, it didn't worry me, but did make me kinda frown about the product just a little.

I didn't want to say anything, as I didn't wish to seem negative towards the product ....... I still think they are bloody amazing and give a look to the nails that no other product can achieve.

What little damage I sustained was my own fault for 3 reasons.
  1. I applied them brilliantly :)
  2. The product lived up to it's reputation
  3. I ignored manufacturers advice about removing them correctly

People who are correctly taught Minx, are also taught how to remove them, so listen, learn and advise your clients accordingly.
There might be another reason to add to your list:
4. You didn't use solar oil daily - if you did then there wouldn't be as much dehydration (if any) and the nails would look in much better condition upon correct removal.

thanks everyone, wel i did a set on my friend and purposely told her 2 have a HOT and LONG bath that night....she did,and they are all still perfect, i think the client was telling porkie pies...! they are very difficult to pull off even wen under heat, so i know its not my application. and also, is CND the only uk supplier, as they have a limited range of colours?

I was gonna say ! Must have been some kind of supersonic hot bath for them to fall off :D Glad its sorted, this simply just would not happen.

I do wonder sometimes if the clients who make these blatant excuses up realise how completely foolish they appear hahaa :D

Ive had mine on for about 7 weeks now and i have a bath every night in roasting hot water(hate luke warm baths) and mine are still going strong. I suppose it depends on how quickly your toe nails grow as mine are probably needing replaced now. They havent lifted one little bit.:D

Just because they stay on for 7 weeks does not mean that clients should be advised to keep them on for 7 weeks!!

Minx say to change your design more frequently to avoid Dry looking patches. Not a good idea for your nails or your business to advise that clients wear them for so long. More importantly Minx themselves do not advise it.
