Color help

I have a client with greys that has been coloring her hair black. She wants to go lighter so we decided a light brown with caramel highlights. How would achieve this without damaging her hair too much? I had considered using a color remover first then using a high lift light brown with high lift blonde. Not sure if that is the best option. Please help.

Whats a highlift brown?

I doubt you're going to achieve this in one sitting from black.
