Hi am posting this as would like to advice as to what to do with apologies if too much detail.

I recently had BIAB for the second time at the same nail salon. Pleased with overall shape of nails and colour but there was quite a gap left at the cuticle area (understand that there needs to be a small margin). I went on the Sunday and telephoned on the Tuesday morning (was going to leave it until my next appointment but reallly wasn't happy) and explained that there were a couple of nails that I was not happy with. I was told to come in on the Saturday but then got a message from the owner asking for a picture which I duly sent. I was then told to come in to get them in-filled and that if I came in the following day I wouldn't have to pay but if I came in on the Saturday I would have to. I went the following day and was told that my nails may have grown due to weather, etc which I disputed. Then the owner said that if I had pushed the cuticles back this would create a gap to which I replied that I wouldn't have gone home and pushed them back. I then was told that because of my skin she couldn't go right up to the cuticle to which I replied that I understood there needed to be a gap but when I have had my nails done before it has been much closer. I was then told that she does this with all her customer and she found it strange that after three days I had rung to say I wasn't happy to which I replied I rang on the Tuesday morning and only had them done on the Sunday. I did explain that it wasn't a criticism of her work I just didn't want nails that looked like I had re-growth within a few days. I tried breaking the atmosphere by asking if she had a black shimmer colour for my next appointment as am going to a party to which I got a blunt no we only do plain black.

Would like some advice as to whether to go back or go to another nail salon. I have attached a couple of pictures.

I'm sad your disappointed with your nail service. There is quite a big gap but your cuticles are very dry and don't look like they've been prepped particularly well, this will prevent the tech from getting super close.

It may be the tech is not particularly well trained, it may be that's the way they provide their services and existing clients are happy with it. You are not, I would expect them to redo them for you following you raising your issues as quick as you did.

What you do now is entirely down to your preference. You could go back for some remedial work but you've been disappointed twice now so it's unlikely you're going to get the results you are expecting.

If you go elsewhere you will have to pay again so you will be out of pocket BUT it's imperative you discuss your expectations and requirements before the tech starts work. I'm always recommending clients spend time discussing what they expect before the treatments start, that way you both are on the same page. Any decent tech will spend that time with you, if not, politely leave.

Ask around your friends and colleagues for recommendations of a good tech
