Hi there,

I've got natural mousey brown hair which has been dyed for years and years with Koleston 12/89, mixed with Wella 12% 40 Vol welloxon.

Trouble is, where the ends are near enough platnium blonde, the roots always end up with that orangy /brassy tone.

I've been looking at Wella's 'Blonder' powder and was wondering if I just mix some of this with the usual mixture of 12/89 and 40 vol?

The first few days when I have done the roots lookes fine but as the weeks develop they just turn oranger and oranger.

I've tried using purple/silver shampoo's but it doesnt make much difference to the roots, but the ends end up looking whiter than white...not in a good way!

Has anyone some good advice please? Thank you!! Debs xx

Have u tried using bleach with a softer oxidant say 9% but leaving it on longer? Pastel toning works well on high lighted hair,it would give u a lasting result and maybe use a natural at a level 8/9 to break up the blonde at the ends?

Thanks for your reply.

I did try the 9% in the past but it made no difference (left it on for longer too), so switched back to 12%.

I'm now having bleach highlights putting through the roots every 2 - 3 months to break it up (only on the roots) but it's the inbetween salon visits where is looks awful. And of course it's costing me a fortune to go back every other month. Inbetween visits, I am putting the Koleston on every month (roots only) and so I end up with this 'band' of orange inbetween the salon visits.

I have darker ash highlights put through the length, so no problems there, just the roots :-(

we cant advise non proffesionsls to use professional products jazmine...:)

to the op....go to a hairdresser instead of doing it yourself, professional products are for people who have spent years learning how to use them properly, not to be messed around with!
