Hi, this new client has been home colouring for quite some time, it is a deep plum red around a base 4/5. Her natural colour is a natural dark blonde about a base 7, from our initial chat on the phone she wants go back closer to her natural colour to avoid such a definite regrowth. I will be doing a skin and strand test first, but its been a long time since I've done any correction work as such
what would be your plan of action? Bleach bath? Colour remover? Is there much difference between the brands of removers (blondi rae, affinage, effesor) as only used bleach bath in the past.
thanks in advance.

Ive only found success with a bleach bath when wanting to cleanse some tone from a colour but to strip colour and lighten by a few shades I would use effasor. I think it lifts really well and can be left on for up to an hour without too much damage to the hair, should be able to lift to a pale orange/yellow from a 4/5. Obviously will depend on how much colour build up there is. As long as there is a decent natural regrowth and her hair is in fairly good condition loreal effasor should be fine.

ps there is a really long thread somewhere about blondi rae, ive never tried it but seems to be popular
Good luck

Thanks for your reply, yes have told her it would be best to have as much regrowth as she can put up with. Yes have heard of effasol, is it right that you can mix with water or peroxide? And when re-colouring after this treatment do you have to use a shade lighter than desired colour?? Does it grab? Hope that makes sense.

Yep you can mix with water if only removing incompatible tone but to lighten couple levels id use 20vol peroxide. Colour def grabs more after so you're right prob best to use shade lighter than your target shade, and remember to pick something that will help cancel the warmth left after youve stripped the colour

you could use matrix colour erase which leaves the hair in amazing condition which if she has much build up should get her to about a 7 or 8 and then i would use 8na ends and half 8n half 8na roots or half 6na half 8na ends and half 6n half 8na roots but dont forget to use instacure before applying and dry the hair off
