Well I'd be intrigued to learn the secret to your bleach mixture and zero humidity in your salon... The fact is heat dries bleach out, you can't just leave it if it does it won't do anything except damage the hair and scalp. And in fact you are wrong... All powder bleach is stated as off scalp regardless of peroxide choice... I never use powder bleach on scalp for a start, only gel/cream bleaches. which DO state can be used with 30vol.

Further knowledge is so important when trying to prove someone wrong!!

i use schwarzkopf blond me on scalp its powder bleach, I didnt know you couldnt use powder bleach on scalp???? IS THIS RIGHT

No it's not! I have come across some bleach powders that can't be used on scalp such as color graphics but blond me can but I'm not sure you can use it with 9% but Defo 6% :) wella bleach can be used, matrix v-light the list is endless!

Every powder bleach I have used has stated not to be used on scalp, I was only sharing my knowledge, but because bluerinse disagreed with me I got shot down.

Their is a very very few that can't be used on scalp as I said above

All powder bleach is stated as off scalp regardless of peroxide choice...

maybe this statement was a bit strong then if its only the ones you have used
sorry to be pointing it out but it made me doubt myself!

Exactly what I meant by my earlier post x

Exactly. Statements cannot be made purely on just products used by ones self.. That's not where facts come from. I use loreal powder bleach. Blue powder bleach is specifically for scalp and white powder bleach is for hair off of the scalp.

Can I be definative here?
Some powder bleaches are designed for off scalp only, just as some cream bleaches are of scalp only too.
Always check manufacturers instructions as off scalp bleaches have a different action and ingrediants to on scalp bleaches.

30 vol with bleach is inadvisable in this day and age. We used to use it many years ago, but bleaches are different now, and 20 vol is sufficient.
30 vol with start degrading the hair before it has the chance to lift fully. It will also cause a texture change.

Dark hair bleached with 20 vol will still look and feel like hair. Hair bleached with 30 vol will feel like chewing gum when wet and overshiny cotton wool when dry.

9% on scalp I hope your joking! That is a massive problem!! And re-applying them toning!!

If 9% went near my scalp id be in bits! In fact even at 3 I'm sensitive. No way would I be applying 9% to a scalp!

My bleach never dries,
My POWDER bleach is recommended for use on scalp, and no higher than 20 vol.
I used to use 30/40vol when using bleach, either on scalp or highlights, until blue told me to use lower peroxides and see the difference in results...I'd never look back...don't knock something you haven't tried, and dont post false statements, this site is for sharing advice, not for knowingly misleading to get one over on someone!

Can agree as perry suggested 20 vol for me this week and used this on my roots... A base 5 and the results were perfect. X to the OP I would say take the advice from blue rinse. Tell her no x

Learn something new everyday! I use loreal blue powder and used 30 on scalp! Will Definitely be using 20 from now on! LOVE SALON GEEK!

Awww see that's why it's so good. And people like persianista and perry an blue rinse help so many. Shame when it turns in to a bicker!

i use to use bleach with 40vols (not on scalp btw) but since finding this site i know that is a big no no now. i mostly use 20vols now.

p.s a girl i work with use to use bleach and 40vols on her scalp. OUCH!! although she said she couldnt feel it ...

9.2 but please please please don't do it if you think it can't take it!! The ends will grab tone way too much and go purple just warning!!

You won't be able to lift her hair to a platinum blonde without the use of bleach. High lift tints will only give you warm results, especially on a base as dark as a 4. However the midlengths and ends are probably only like chewing gum as it's most likely been applied repeatedly to those areas... I can't see there being a problem using bleach and 9% to get the lift on the natural hair with re applying to prevent it drying out. Then once the lift is there, use a violet toner. However if the ends of her hair is like chewing gum then, she she be using a good conditioning treatment anyhow :/

I do this on a client that has a natural base 4 and haven't had any problems, it's only when you start going as low as a base 2, now that is scary haha.

Should never use anything above 6 for scalp application x
