Hi Folks,

Greatly need your advice.

I have just placed my first advertisement in my local paper and get a call this morning for a lady that owns a salon asking if I would be interested in part time work - couldn't beleive it, am so pleased! She is trained in Creative and is looking for another Creative Tech as she is also a beautician and struggles to do both.

She mentioned working on a commision basis - this is where i need your help. Coming for an office back ground I have no idea what the going rate is for a nail tech and would love to when I go and see her Monday as least be half knowledgable. Or is commission even the right way to go?

Any advice greatly appreciated. Any do's or dont's or be aware of's.

Thanking you folks in advance.

Sabrina

Cant help you here. Im new to all of this aswell. Just wondered did you put in an ad saying you were a trained nail tec looking for work. Its just i was thinking of doing this a while back but didnt know what to write.x

Do a search on "renting" and loands of info in renting costs and commission will come up.

Cheers folks.

I put an ad in offering nail enhancements/manicure/pedicures and the lady just happened to be looking for someone one the nail side. Pot luck really.

Hi Sabrina

Great opportunity! I think you need to have a chat and see exactly what she has in mind. For example by commision does she mean she takes a percentage of what you earn a bit like rent a chair? Is she going to take all the appointments for you, provide a desk and stock, refreshments etc??

If so then you will ob get a lower commission than renting, but it will be great experience for you and you can always renegotiate later on.

Thanks for the advice.

Did have a look through past threads and got a bit more of an idea but any more views very welcome.

hi Sabrina, i am currently paying 25% of any treatments i do. This is good for me in the short term whilst i build a clientle, as i needn't worry about paying her if i don't have any clients. We are going to reassess in a couple of months to see how we are both getting on. And then if i am in a position i would maybe sway over to a set amount.

Another thing, any profits of retail is my own.

let us know how yu gt on.

i forgot to add, i charge £30 for a full set of POW, she gets 25% of this.

Cheers Debbie.

25% is the going rate where i live, i was paying this but all retail or art work was all mine. Lighting, electric, tea's, phone, towels was all included in the 25%.
