Hi all!

I'm doing the professional nails comp in September!!!
I've never done a competition before and I was wondering if any geeks who have been in comps could give me any hints on what the judges are looking for and how busy it'll be and stuff!!

Any info would be great!!!

Thanks a million!!!

Well I can't give you any tips and advise as I have not been down the comp route yet but I will wish you all the best Kirsten. I am sure you will have a ball. :)

id advise you to get your self booked on a comp class.... its the best thing i have found for me when entering comps, altho id say your prob a wee bit to late to fit it in before earls court

also do a search on here as there as loads of past posts on competions from other geekios

and finding a good hand model is all so good to do... i know they are hard to find but its worth looking and will hopefully make your life easier

Vicki Peters also does an ebook ( ithink) and ive just found a helpful link on her website http://www.vickipeters.com/comp.htm

oh and nt forgetting practice, practice practice

most judges are looking for consistancy... which means.... that everything looks the same ie... the same arch location on every nail etc...

Thanks hun!

I'm off to Creative on Friday for a 1-2-1 on compe nails so hopefully that will help!
Been practising all weekend!!!
What makes a good hand model then?

Wow that's a great link Jess with some fab advice! Good luck all ye competitors - I'm still playing chicken!

I'm playing chicken too, just being a model this time. good luck Tilly.:)

What makes a good hand model???
Err...me, lmao!!!
Also Jacqui (Jac Extreme)
We both have long nail beds/hands.
You need to find someone who fits this criteria with no tattoos or obvious marks on the hands.
To be able to practice on them prior to the comp is useful, so you dont have to stress about tip types/fit on the day.
Using another tech can be an advantage as they can have their hands well manicured and tip-top for you when you start.
Oh... and the patience of a saint ...lots of waiting around to be judged, etc.
