Hi

I think the quality of the photo is letting you down a bit. Before takin photo consider the background, lighting, what flash setting you are using, how close you are to the model, with a little big of tweaking you can get photos that are really flattery and show off your work to its best.

I didn't get a 'wedding feel' from your pictures perhaps you could get pictures with them in their tiara, on the day in their dress, etc just to give them more of a wedding feel.

Hope this helps

Clare

Thankyou, great advice. New to all this picture taking stuff! I have more pictures but i dont have the chip at the moment, waiting for it to be returned. Will def get some more bridal shots up, thank you

Do you want comments on the photo's or the make up itself?

Photo's:- I would stand the models in front of a blank wall and not the window of the door. I think this has been said but have their event photo as the after photo.

Make-Up:- Great transformation for them all. How about maybe showing some really varied looks. Natural beauty right through to vamp look.

I think the ladies in the photo's are lovely but it's true that people buy into a lifestyle and that's why we all love celebrity. They want to look at how they 'could' look. For example the lady in the nails photo has quite uneven nail beds so it doesn't show your polish off to it's best. xxx

Great advice thank you. I need to get snapping more. I always forget to take pictures of my work until after they've gone (polishing) I know celebrity sells but i want to be known for showing what i can do with what you have. We're not all pro models at the end of the day. I can't refuse work just because someone isn't "high grade" lol x

Personally, I think all your models are beautiful and you did a nice job with the make up.

Because my son is a photog, I know he does model shoots for free to gain experience. Maybe you could contact some schools in your area and find newbie photogs looking for experience, who would be willing to take your pics for free or a minimal charge. Best of luck to you! :)

Hey girls

Can you please take a look at my make up application photos on my website

www.aphroditesbridalservices.co.uk

And give me some constructive critism on how it looks etc....

Oh, and more pics coming soon!

The purpose of your website it to generate business for yourself - is it not? Therefore I would have to say I would not be that impressed. What I mean by this is from a consumers point of view, this site would not make me want to book your services. Surely it is about the whole package - quality of photographs, scene setting, models, and of course the make up. All these things need to be spot on for a professional image and to beat the competition. IMO. I think it could be made better - always room for improvement!

i agree 100%! people want to see good quality up close photographs - especially if they are paying the amounts that bridal make up costs and for such a special occasion.

the idea above about contacting a local photographer is fabulous! you could even work together on some promotions and recomend each other too. i'm not sure if this is a bit dishonest (not sure that's the right word to use!) but could you not get some professional models (alot of models are willing to work for free if they can have a copy of the photos for their portfolios so it's win win for everybody) in some wedding type wear (it doesn't have to be big full dresses look at eg. the sienna spray tanning wedding poster it is aimed at brides and if you look closely at the model and what she is wearing it just looks like a polar neck top, surely you could do the same thing with something like a tie behind the neck slinky top in traditional wedding colours for not too much of a cost?) to give the impression they are actually weddings that have happened? like i said i'm not sure if that would be ok or wheather it is a bit underhand? :\ at the end of the day a simple google search will bring up many many people who offer bridal make up and if you want to compete you have to display what you can do as well as possible.

Hi there, i have to say that your make up skills are good, and im pleased that you went with regular clients as i feel that when people go onto your sight then they are not looking and thinking ''Oh there so much prettier or there models so there would be no way i could get that look achieved'' For me thats what i would be looking for when either recommending or searching for someone to do bridal makeup... and i like that fact that you can get an ''ugly duckling into a beautiful swan'' for that one fantastic day...keep up the good work and good luck...Ps looking forward to seeing more pictures and some different looks and styles xx

I like your website - it is clear and well presented. It may be my browser but the prices need to be tabbed in line as it looks a bit messy. Regarding your photos I think it would be nice to see your models with tiaras and dresses on if possible but I think showing all types of models actually shows off what you can do. I would not delete pics because models are not classically pretty. I would just get a good cross section of your clients to illustrate your work. To me beauty is accessible to all and helps us to bring out and improve ourselves not about unrealistic attainments! I applaud you on the use of 'real people'.;)

Thankyou! Really cheered me up! I am going to stand by what i've already said and only use the people who walk through my door, if you don't like it, don't book me :)

Just added one more, loads more to come i promise.

Everyone has to start somewhere, i don't think i'm doing too bad really with my resources. I admit my photography needs alot of work and the college advice is great! It didn't even occur to me TBH, i was just thinking of how they looked! lol

Give it 6 months and i may have conformed (SP?) my critics lol
