Hi guys

I have a client with level 5 box dye and around 4 inches of level 8 natural regrowth. Her end goal is an all over pearly blonde (don’t worry, she knows it’s a process). I have strand tested the length and lifted pretty good.

I’m thinking of doing a full head of Babylights and balayage to lift on the first session but my concern is what to do with the Root area as that will lift so much lighter than the miss and ends. Maybe a Root shadow?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Just remove the artificial colour with a colour reducer and go from there.
It really doesn’t have to be a long process.

Wouldn’t that make it more difficult as it would expose lots of warmth that I would have to correct?

So her goal is to be one solid all over colour?

No just a full head highlights look with a Root shadow

I think it'll end up looking patchy of you dont first correct the base.

For now I'd focus on getting her up to an 8 all over. Your first step should be a colour remover and then take it from there.

Wouldn’t that make it more difficult as it would expose lots of warmth that I would have to correct?
It will expose warmth anyway, whether you bleach or use colour remover. Either way you'll have to tackle warmth and it's still a colour correction. The difference will be the starting point you'll be working on to lift the hair

Thanks for your replies! I’ll post the pics

I would use a color removal product on the box dye. Then I would use bleach & 20 vol on the virgin hair & 30vol & bleach on the warm ends in the same foil. On the hair section between each foil, use 30vol & bleach on warm ends only with foil. This should get it to an 8 raw(light gold) for toning.
