Hi so my client has decided on dark purple hair. Shes a base 5. I'm wondering what's the best permanent dye to use ? Schwarzkopf professional or kenra ? I have attached the pic she sent me. Any help would be fab. Thanks

True Purple is quite tricky because a lot of colour recipes contain red pigments and if you apply onto a darker base, it will often look more burgundy than purple.

I’ve used the Guy Tang range and got a similar tone from mixing 8DL with 3MV or 3MB, if you want it even more blue based.

That would need to be lifted to a 10 for the result you want. So bleach and then your desired shade.

Shes not keen at all on getting her hair bleached first I already asked her. Shes one of those clients who totally freak at getting an inch off her hair. So as I'm mobile I'm really not sure on what to do x

You just need to be firm and tell her if she wants this type of purple you will have to bleach her hair to a pale yellow first. It simply isn’t possible to do it without lightening her hair.
If she’s not willing for you to do that, you can only offer a compromise that will be a dark burgundy purple or to add coloured extensions or a wig.

Don’t tie yourself in knots trying to meet her unrealistic demands. Give her the options, let her choose.

Failing that, walk away and suggest she finds another hairdresser.

Totally agree with the above comments! The closest thing you'll achieve to that without bleach would be a darker, less vibrant probably more red, purple colour. Take a look at products that lift and tone, a lot of these are designed for already coloured hair. Some work on hair as dark as a level 3. Framesi Light and shine 5.66 is very good for this, you could add some blue intensifier to get a closer colour to the picture. But obviously it won't be as light or as vibrant.
