can someone please show me or tell me the difference between a bob and a graduated bob and if it is possible to cut a the graduation out of a bob? Please let me know asap as it's for an assignment :)

LIKE ASAP!!

Hi .. a bob is a one length cut shoulder length or above whereas a graduated bob is where the back is cut shorter and gets longer towards the front. (Like Posh Beckham had - and made famous as the Pob!)

Feel free to take a look at my website photos of my work and you will see a graduated bob there :)

To make a bob out of a graduated bob you would simply need to level the front of the haircut up to the back (by cutting off the front to the same length as the back) .. if that makes sense?

Hope this helps :) x

sorry to be a buzz kill but i think this kinda defeats the purpose of studying

People learn differently, i always learn best when explained by another person instead of reading out a book, that way you can ask further questions.

I personally don't see what the problem is? .. Whether she gets the information from a website, a book or a person - she is still researching.
I too find it easier when something is explained by a person, rather than reading it from a book, re-reading it and it still not being 100% clear.
I think if anything she has come to the right place to ask such a question as she is asking the professionals.. X

if it was simple enough for you to google....its simple enough for her to google.

I also explained it and then found a picture to describe my explanation.
At the end of the day-we are all here to help eachother and that is all I did! X

I don't want to argue about it but go on Google images and search "hair bob" then go and search "hair graduated bob"....its not that difficult, but the easiest option is to get someone else to do it for you.

apart from the fact that a hair student doesn't know what a graduated bob is....which is a completely different issue.

i think it gets peoples backs up when people come on and dont even try to help themselves .. the OP offered nothin in her post it was just tell me , its for an assignment and like now asap .. lol

i know we were taught all the different cutting styles before we had even tried doing them so we knew a one length ,graduation , layered etc.. surely they must have theory classes or are shown demos .. if not then teaching has gone right down hill and how the heck will she pass practicals ?

maybe if it hads been worded like ... whats the best angle to hold the hair at .. or something .. anything other than basically "tell me the answer now "

no one expects anyone to know everything , gawd we all ask each other questions but if you do have a question at least show willing and try help yourself at least a little bit

what they said :) x

It's nice to get someone to explain, that's y there are teachers and your not just given a book! That girl might of just started training and I think the comments are uncalled for?!

Am sorry but I think my point of googling "graduated bob" was a fair one.

We get people on regularly looking for us to do their homework, and it's tiring. Instead of overlooking the thread, I'd rather comment with why I don't give answers away like sweeties.

It's a very simple thing to work out on your own - and to be honest "give me the answer asap" doesn't sit well with me.

If someone comes on here and says "I have this question, this is the answer I've thought of, do you think it's right, or that I have explained it well?" Then I'll help. No problem. But "Can you do my homework please?" The answer from me is NO.

The OP has posted 3 times, once to ask about best place to open a salon, another to ask this question and in another she also gave technical advice about a colour, I do wonder where she is training that teaches her about colours before the basic difference between 2 fairly common bobs?

Actually I now see your point and maybe I should not have been so quick off the mark to answer her question and do her homework for her (which seems to be what I have done)
I agree with you and the fact that had she of given the question some thought herself, then I would have felt better about helping afterwards!
I too am new to salon geek and now that I know students use the site to gain quick answers to homework questions as the lazy option I think I will think twice before answering it next time!
Also.. After me giving the OP the answer to her question-she has not posted since! ..not a thank you-nothing!

I hold my hands up on this occasion!

Abstyle - I am not having a go at you - and as I said earlier I don't wanna argue with anyone.

I just feel like some people take the easy (or to be blunt, lazy) way out on here.

Hi there

This is my next cutting assignment at college, the different's with the two styles are that the one length bob is cut at zero elevation and the graduated bob can be varied at different elevation angle's, it can be cut at 45 or 90 degree's from the nape depending on how you want the style to look.

We don't do homework for anyone SIMPLES.
