I recently started experimenting with nail foils. I have a really pretty rose gold holo foil. I used it for the first time and after I put on the gel topcoat the holo disappeared! It just looks like metallic pink. Can anyone help me understand why this happened and how to maybe prevent it from happening again?

hi, thats really odd that that has happened... what have you put the foil onto? gel or foil glue?x

I put it on foil glue.

I put it on foil glue.
I'm not really sure then, I always put it on cured gel was going to suggest re curing after you've applied it but I don't think that will work with foil glue sorry x

Have you got any pics? I’m thinking the glue is the issue but the glue would be between the foil and the nail plate wouldn’t it so it’s quite bizarre that it would effect the top side of the foil (hope that makes sense! It did in my head lol!)

I just too it off yesterday. I can always try again. Maybe the glue wasn't fully dry or something? I will post a pic when I try again.

Here are pictures of the foil, after the application with foil glue and with top coat. It doesn't appear as bad this time but its still not as holo as it was.

Have you tried a different top coat incase it is contaminated and you haven’t noticed over gel polishes
