Hi all!

Soo..

I want to get my own shellac or gel kit so i can do my nails at home and not spend $40 everytime i get my nails done. I some a few kits in the shops. Iv seen sally hansen, fuse and a few others, but they dont have many colours to choose from.

I was thinking of buying gelish because iv had it applied in nail salons a few times and they have so many nice colours. Its just that i have NO idea which lamp i need. I know theres LED and UV. I know UV is cheaper and LED cures gel alot faster.. I dont really want to spend too much. I kind of want to test it out for a bit and then maybe buy more expensive products later.

Do i need a UV or LED lamp for gelish? Can i use other brands of polish with the lamp or only gelish? and what kind of lamp do i look for? I heard you need a 36W lamp.

Thanks for your help!!

Have you had any sort of training

No. How come?

You can't buy shellac or gelish unless you are qualified in manicures

My thoughts exactly we all have to pay to get qualified in these products to be able to offer them and buy the products

It is not advisable to buy gel polish if you are not qualified it is a professional product and if applied/removed incorrectly you can cause damage to your nails. There is a reason why there is training, health & safety rules etc in place!!

These are professional products, there's a reason you can't buy Gelish in Boots or Superdrug, they are not retail products.

If you buy from eBay you have no idea what you are really buying, there are A LOT of fakes out there as well as dodgy lamps that will only damage your nails.

We all spent a lot of time, money and passion in becoming qualified and purchasing the right products from the authorised distributors.

If you have had no training in application and proper removal you will just damage your nails.

Do some training, get qualified and be sure you are using the correct products in the correct way as well as removing it safely.

I have seen so many people who have badly damaged nails due to doing "diy home shellac"

These product are for professional use only. You can only buy the proper products for authorised sellers/distributors as a qualified professional. Yes you can buy from other places but these products are often fakes!!! To use these products safely without risk of damaging nails & skin you need to be trained properly. It may seem easy to do.....but the damage caused by DIY nails is not worth the risk, training & qualifications are there for a reason!

What we are all trying to tell you as qualified nail professionals is that although it appears to you that we're simply applying polish to your nails, we're professionally trained in all aspects of your nail health, care and maintenance.

The application and removal of these products seems so very simple but you have no idea all the things that can go wrong. But we do. You can do significant and permanent damage to not just your nails but possibly to your overall health.

You'll get no professional advice from us in this area. We just don't feel it's safe.
