I had a client that got her nails done while on vacation and she said they were gel nails but when I asked her about them she said they used a powder that looked just like acrylic. I was confused because the gel system that I know is in a bottle and you put it on with a little brush (like polish). I asked if she dipped her fingers in the powder and she said no it was exactly like the acrylic but the guy that did it said it was a gel. Does anyone know what she is talking about?

Thanks,

Hi

I use a system called Acrygel which uses Gel and an Acrylic powder. You put Gel on the brush then dip the brush into the powder then apply it to the nail. So I am wondering if it is a similar or same system that has been used.

Sometimes NSS Salons (I think you call them Chop Shops over there) will give you l&p and call them gel so that they don't lose potential custom - it happens a lot in my area.

I agree with Sassy, I saw an old friend that I had not seen in over a year was wearing extensions, it was immediatly apparent to me that they were NSS nails, she told me they were gel, but were applied and removed just like acrylic!!!!!!!!!!!

I used to use a UV Acrylic system, so it was liquid & powder that you set under a UV lamp like gel, so it could also have been this.
