Hey geeks I'm new here well I'm hope for some Advice and hopfuly a bit of a pick me up.

I live in a small town and fairly new to the town and have been doing mobile beauty and from home for 6months.
I never expected to make millions from doing beauty it was always a side job from my other cafe job.
Anyhow I thought I was doing ok I had like 12 regulare clients was steady over summer and busy over haloween.
A girl who was well known in the town and was a known beauty therapist here has opened a salon ...and all but 4 of my client who are are good friends with this other girl have move to having treatments from her.
Most people in the town now go to her .... My books for Dec pretty dead .... Iv advertise on Facebook as I use to but at the moment nothing.
My confidence in my work has taken a blow and I'm at a loss what to do now ?

Do you have a recommend a friend scheme or a loyalty card?

Have an appointment with you in December and get a 10% off voucher to use in January or February x

I have offers on my treatments over Xmas but still nothing ...think the people don't want to come to me over her for sake she'd be annoyed with them as she friends with most people in the village.
Maybe I'll get people more towards Christmas but I just can't see much hope atm

It's tough going starting from home and not knowing that many people around. I have found that simple old school marketing works really well for me. I put big signs up on my front wall and I put my business cards and flyers in the local shops. I would safely say I have all my clients from this and not from Facebook. Most people go to my Facebook after they have come to me. I do all my printing through vistaprint online which I find good value and not so expensive!

Think it's just more so I was doing well and now I'm sooo quite people have just up and left ...massive confidence blow ....ny prices are cheaper then hers and with out giving things out for free I'm unsure what I can do

Try to focus on what makes you different to this new salon and advertise this. For example:
You offer mobile
Different product brands
Different treatments
Different opening hours

You should extend your advertising further afield to where people don't know this other therapist too.

Some clients just like to try new places for the novelty factor - they often come back to you!!

I am a mobile beauty therapist too. Play up that part...that you go to them...no going out and trying to park for them. You provide everything they would get in a salon but in their own home. I find people are much more relaxed and at ease straight away because they are in their own environment.
Mobile beauty treatments are perfect for busy mums, new mums with small children/babies. Also the elderly and less able bodied people. Market yourself to that clientele. Clients with a disposal income also love a mobile therapist...the perfect market to tap into. It won't happen overnight but keep going and you will get there.

Thanks girls think it just hit me pretty hard yesterday ... I do feel a bit better today.
Think I'm just going to have to up my game ....Iv been tempted for ages to upgrade my brow treatments to hd brows and maybe even stock their make up brand what do you think ? She dose most treatments that I do but none are of a brand name so I think that would be one advangege to me along with all the thing you've suggested I get some proper flyers up and going

I think using a famous brand definitely helps to get clients in.
I work from home so I decided to go with Shellac for nail gel and I think it has really helped get new clients through the door. It also means you can use their logo and professional photos which makes your adverts and brochures look really good!
Keep going and work at getting the new clients in. The rest will follow.
Good luck [emoji6]

Yes I think having a good quality well known brand really helps set you apart from the rest. I use Shellac, Nouvatan and Eve Taylor brands...all are fairly well known and good quality, professional products.
Also if your looking at getting yourself a logo, business cards, treatment list ect... Carl from The Verve is an excellent designer and very competitive with his prices. He is on here and Facebook. Create the image you are trying to project to you ideal clientele. ☺
