Dreaded client!

If I was paying for a massage or facial and should be all relaxed, calm and chilled out, I would be furious to be disturbed by children running about and making noise! I would never return.

I couldn't agree more I would be the same

I remember when i did a salon placement years ago, during my NVQ level 1. There was one woman who used to come in every 2 weeks on the dot. Same time, same hairdo. The whole salon used to dread this day! lol

She was the dreaded client at my salon. She used to bring her two kids with her and could never control them. They were in and out of the staff room, grabbing products and messing about with the sinks, splashing water all over the salon. She'd sit on her phone 95% of the time she was having her hair cut and the stylist used to get so frustrated having to wait for her. She'd eat sarnis while she was having bleach on her hair, slowing the stylist down once again. Every time she visited, she'd also have tummy problems and would be constantly stopping the stylist for 5-10 mins at a time to visit the toilet. On top of it all, she used to be so picky about her hair. You could guarantee that even if the salon owner did her hair (who had 30 odd years experience in the industry) she'd still find something wrong, so they'd have to do it again.

Used to take about 3 hours all in all, for something that should have taken an hour lol Oh and another thing, she was the type of client to slag off other hairdressers constantly! Which grates on me and pisses me off, as i know no matter what someone did for her, she'd still be unhappy. Word of mouth and reputation is everything in the hairdressing world. Just glad the bitch moved in the end and went to another salon.

Wow. I just simply wouldn't tolerate that. I have had someone ask if they could eat whilst having a treatment (nails) and of course the answer was no. I have also had to ban mobiles, especially whilst IN the sunbed!

Oh god, I am really starting to dislike clients, most are lovely but some just make me grrrr!

Any problem client i turn away. Just say theres no appointments for te next 8 weeks, works a trey. Id rather lose a client than have someone who doesnt respect me & the salon.

Especially picky clients dont get appointments either, if theure fussy theyre always going to complain about something & cause a scene, if front of clients that dont deserve it, potentially puting them off too & some vem refuse to pay. Id rather weed them out & be left with the decent clients who merely want their hair done x

I have a client in on Saturday and when I see her name in the book my heart sinks. Shes lovely enough but she makes me nervous I can't explain why. She always asks for mr which is good but I just get so nervous and she's very curious and asks the ins and outs of my life also she always brings her child which would normally be fine but this child is so naughty! She won't sit still and my client is always up and down running to get her so it takes me ages to finish her hair, then she starts shouting at her daughter in the salon which I'd embarrassing as well!

I was just wondering have any of you got any clients u dread doing regularly? Would make me feel much better. Thanks x
Dear Angel_19,
Well done for working on a customer that makes you nervous for a start and well done for putting up with it. In my last job I managed 450 staff in 24 salons and of course all salon professionals dread some of their customers and everybody has favorites...it is just a fact of life. Next time, when she shouts, or talks, or instructs her child just pause and let her finish and then re-position her head an dcontinue her service when she is finished. Also, do what we advise all our PHAB Standard holders and book her into your downtimes before she leaves (that is your slowest time of the week) and that way she doesn't come in at peak times and annoy you. Keep smiling and continue being as professionally behaved as you have. Keep a lolly pop handy for the kid for their next visit as well.

i have one lady who brings her 4 year old son in for a haircut and always pray that im too busy to do it. he howls the place down hes shaking and making himself sick whilst screaming that he doesn't want his hair cut and hates me. i stand there like a plonker not knowing what to do as hes trying to kick me away and his mum is saying 'carry on! he has to have it cut. sit still josh or she will cut you!' and im thinking 'cut him! the sharp blades are by my fingers that your trying to hit away' i dread this day whilst all the while the other clients are staring at me waiting to see what happens.
