Hi all!

I am doing nvq2 nails. E file isn't covered, and I've been hand filing, but i have Fibromyalgia, and it exhausts me and leaves me quite sore, and takes me ages.

Can I do an efile course while im doing my level 2 do you know? My college is closed til new year so I can't ask them.

And can someone recommend an efile please.

Merry Christmas!

I'm sure someone will be willing to train you whilst you're doing you level 2. It's common for it not to be included even on level 3 courses. I'd urge you to google for somewhere that can offer a qualification such as vtct, itec, city and guilds.

What I will say as someone with ME is that filing manually does get less ergonomically difficult over time. It felt that at college we spent ages filing but once you're out there working on clients filing doesn't seem to feel as longed out. I was looking at training to use an electric file but I decide not to because it's not a technique that I believe in in terms of being gentle to the nail.

Since diagnosis I have honed in on treatments that are more compatible with my disability: no more massage and more makeup ;)

Thanks Laura Kate. I'm doing vtct so I think I'm going to see if I can do it as a stand alone unit now.

I love doing acrylics, it's my favourite thing but doing a set is taking me 3 hours from nail prep to gel polish due to the filing and shaping. Standard square are faster.

I'm having to double up my pain meds to cover it though!

I'm using nsi acrylics and files, my only other option is to try cjp, which everyone who has tried it say it files like a dream.
