Hi guys

Just wondering if anyone uses the famous names instant impact bottom coat and high speed top coat? If so how quickly do you find it dries and how long on average do you get chip free?

Thanks in advance :) x

Before Vinylux I used this top and base.

Base dries instantly. Over a good quality polish top would dry almost fully in around 10-15 minutes, often quicker.

My nails are good and I rarely chip. On clients, wear was slightly better than average. Any where from 5-10 days, it really depended on the client.

Thank you Fee :) I use Vinylux at the moment but just can't get on with it all the time so thinking of swapping to the famous names base and top and a good polish brand.

I may be wrong and you should ring S2 to check, but I have a sneaky feeling they may be discontinuing it. The salon size has been out of stock for months. Don't forget the new Creative range is a 3 step system, will probably have a good top and base.

As for your original question. The base dries super duper fast. Top has pretty good dry time and the wear is good. However, I really wasn't keen on the top coat and now just use it for pops. Although I float on a good layer, I found it dried with ever so slight streaks, hard to describe but it didn't have that perfect glass like finish. I was always a Archie cute (lol eta- I meant Seche Vite!! Autocorrect cracks me up) girl, but for long wear, perfect finish and super fast dry time, HK Girl wins for me every single time. I've tried countless top coats in my quest for perfection and nothing has beaten it yet! Sadly not available at a trade price but it's only 85p more than FN and it's 15ml as opposed to 14. Xx

Thanks for your reply Carly, I was also looking at Seche Vite as another option! HK girl isn't one I've heard of though so will definitely have a look into that thank you :) x

If you go with Seche there are a few things to note. Firstly, it is not 3 free. It thickens about halfway down and for best results you should only thin it with Seche Restore. Also, it should be applied to wet polish, this will ensure it dries all the layers as one and will give the manicure longevity. I usually apply it as soon as the first hand/foot has had the final colour coat painted, before going on to the other hand. If you paint really slowly you should apply it after the final coat of colour has been applied to 2 or 3 nails. Hope that makes sense! The pro refill bottle is excellent value, but buy a small bottle first in case you don't like it. It can cause shrinkage too so you must try n think of it as you would gel, cap all your coats and make sure you cover everything in top coat and cap the free edge. If you don't apply it perfectly it can pull the colour coat as it sets. If applied over dry polish it can peel off in sheets. HK girl is less of a faff but still needs a good application to ensure you don't get any shrinkage at the cuticle area. Both of these dry to a plush glassy finish. X
