Maybe a bit of a comparison thing would be good here - I like my comparisons LOL.

After you pass your driving test, you are legal to drive on our roads but that doesnt say you are an expert driver, does it?

All the courses will give you is the skills and knowledge and then it is down to you to practise, practise, practise.

However, the old saying practise makes perfect, is not necesarily true here but practise makes permanent as a wise old head said! In order for practise to make perfect, you need to practising correct techniques and this is what you will learn on your course (most of the time!)

Hi, I'm a beauty therapist of 17 years and have never done nail enhencements as i always concentrated on the therapy side so I thought calgel was the way forward. However after spending almost £500 on training and kit I still can't get it right, its not the product or the training but the 3 sets I have done look so thick.

The overlays were thick, but are still on after 3 weeks, the sculpts I did I thought were ok but after having having colour gel on top look pretty grim and don't get me starte on tips, I can't buff to save my life please help. I also did a pedi with calgel nail polish and to be honest after 17 years I have never seen such a bad paint job, the polish just wouldn't dry, I feel like giving in, wish i'd nevre done the course I'm never going go be able to charge for this.

Hi hun, don't give up!!!

Get yourself a nail trainer/practice hand/finger and play, play, play! and your confidence will pick up. I'm always 'playing' when i get some time, although Calgel is quite expensive to be playing with! Maybe get a cheaper alternative and practice your technique with that. I did Bio and used that in class and salon systems clear on the nail trainer.

Blending tips - well i think we've all had probs with that! I hated it! but it will come to you with practice - i kept over blending so it'd snap, but i learnt to not be so heavy handed and increase the grit i was using and keep checking by wiping with sanitiser and now don't have any probs. Keep the faith! You'll get it!!
