I remember it in the early 90s I think.

Ohh before my time lol. I just assume sometimes that the products we have today have been around since the beginning of time. Like when I found out hairdryers were only invented in the 50s a tool we simply couldn't survive without now x

My boss used to mix an inch of highlift into his bleach mix for foils. Said it made the consistency better. This was definitely in the 90's!

They were actually invented long before that. They were just really really heavy.

I wonder if there is anything we do now that we will look back at and think omg!

Omfg pleeeese! I love this I know a lot of people who used to do this 😂never got the "tone" they were after tho 😂

It doesn't come out the colour the toner should but it does have a slight tone to it, looks unpredictable though I myself would never even try doing that

Probably when were older younger ones will view 6% with bleach like we view 12% and bleach 😛😛

They will probably make 1vol or something like that and for lightening up black hair, people will dabble with 3 vol

Only when your feeling daring :p

But to the OP, why does she think bleach is unnecessary, apart from adding it to highlift? Surely if you don't like using bleach, you don't use it full stop.

Sounds like a client when they say I don't want you to use any bleach, but I want the lightest ashen blonde on my base 5 roots! One of the girls I work with says I won't use bleach I will use Magma hahahah x

No stop I wasn't curious😂 I just meant like it couldn't possibly work

It would just kill most of the tone in the highlift and damage the hair. Old skool!! 😂

You can actually do this with Goldwell! I can't remember actually if I got told it by a colleague or an educator but I'm sure you can mix in Blonding Cream with Oxycur Platin to improve consistency.. I don't cause I don't see the need too and it's a waste but apparently you can!

Lol wow really!? We were a L'Oreal salon. Oh how times have changed! Actually Schwartzkopf does too. Except it can turn hair blue if you overlap but great product all the same.

You mean lift & tone additive by Schwarzkopf? Well it is intented for this use but a two step process is always more reliable.

Fun when I used it on my own head for a global retouch and the overlap was bright blue - impossible to bleach out 😆

It diddnt bother mine at all I thought it was a waste of time, I expected to be platinum blonde 😂 turned out the usual shade of lemon same as usual 🙊

How did it feel on the scalp? Do you think they don't recommend on scalp applications due to staining?

There was no staining or discomfort. It actually says to up the developer in foiling which I didn't as I was using 20 vol on my scalp.

But of course the overlap was a disaster. I tried vitamin c powder with shampoo and it turned pink immediately. Had to dye it a level 7 but still had some strange undertones.... Faded to a beige 8 so I was okay with it😂
