Hey everyone,

I've been qualified as a hairdresser for 8 years but as soon as I finished training I went to work abroad and didn't pursue it.

Now that I'm older and want to settle into a proper career I have started doing freelance hairdressing (specialising in extensions) and makeup (I also trained as an Mua).

I really need help with how else to advertise and get new clients coming through!
I have already:
- made an Instagram
- made flyers and gave them to friends and also put them in the local tanning salon
- posted ad's online (net mums)

I have only had 10 clients in 2 and a half months.

I'm so driven and passionate about what I do and I just want my business to blossom. I would ideally love to do hair and makeup for weddings but don't know how to get into it.

Please any help, tips or mentors would be grateful!

(Middlesex/West London based)

Xx

Sounds like you've made a good start. I would suggest you do hundreds of door to door leaflet drops, create your own website and start a business Facebook page showing the quality of your work.

There are lots of other threads here on salon geeks about starting up- well worth reading through for more ideas that fit your new venture
Good luck

If you have a favorite cafe/local restaurant, go in, talk to the staff, ask if you can leave a few business cards, and take a few of theirs, make friends with these businesses! Have their customers check you out :)

I don't know about the door to door flyers. The ones I am not interested in go straight in the bin and other ones I might be interested in I keep but usually end up forgetting about and find them a half year later in a "safe" place. Lol
