Hi guys, I decided in 2008 to change my career from construction management to hairdressing, bit of a change! I finished my level 3 in July but since then I have been petrified to apply for any jobs as they all seem to mention " experience essential " I am really stuck on what to do the thought of a trade test makes me feel sick ! Any advice is welcome :) x

i was in the same position 5 years ago.....i found it difficult to get full time work because of the 'experience' problem.....what i ended up doin was pickin up part time work in a salon first which then lead to more hours as i got more experience! you'll tend to find more of your local rather than big town centre salons will give u a chance....just go in which are advertising IN PERSON and explain your situation im sure someone will give you a chance.
Did you have a placement whilst you were in colege?

No I didnt again it was my age! But I'm an ex business development manager some one somewhere must want me lol!! Handed a few cvs into places it's very hard to get that initial foot in the door

i was totally different on my course it was compulsary to have a placement even the older students and even if u had to do it voluntary....so in the end it did help cus at least we all had a little basic experience.....ive never used cv's applying for jobs id go in...in person and explain your situation....but your mite find the pay not so good to start with x
