I am so annoyed!!

I have received my brochure from Millenium Nails scottish distributor only to find the following differences in prices :-
Box of 400 tips - £16.95
Files - 50p each
A fellow geek (thanks X) has confirmed that the english distributor charges the following
Box of 400 tips - £11.99
Files - 30p each

So I phone up Newcastle head office and ask why? and can I order directly from them instead.
The guy then explained that the difference in prices are because the scottish prices have vat already added on - I replied 'err no a box of tips @ £11.99 plus 17.5% vat equals about £14 (actually £14.08 but a good guess)'
Can I buy direct? I am told no all scottish trade has to go throught the scottish distributor and that is the prices they have decided to charge.

DISCRIMINATION! I could understand if I was trying to buy from abroad, why rip me off because I am from another part of the UK - support British businesses - YEAH RIGHT! Is this fair?

NOT a happy bunny   :irked:

Have you spoke with the Scottish distributor to find out their thoughts? Perhaps the Scottish catalogue is more recent.

That's really bad! Are they allowed to do that by law?

:smack: for Millenium Nails Scottish distributor - they really should be supporting their techs not driving them elsewhere for their products!

Perhaps a quick call to your local Trading Standards might be in order, just to see what they say about it.

Angry on your behalf!

Hi Chris - I have since spoken to the scottish distributor who has said that she has to buy them from Millenium Nails at £11.99 plus VAT a box then adds on a small amount to make a profit. I said so Nail techs over the border can buy the same box of tips £3 cheaper than us Scots her reply
'yep ~ well we have the contract to supply Scotland and thats just the way it goes'
I understand the distributor has to make a profit but the prices should be standard across the UK surely.

Shame on you Millenium Nails

That is not good Karol. Perhaps start purchasing more at the Trade Shows. Leaves a bad taste in the mouth. I would really grudge giving them custom. I would look at other suppliers. Sorry I can't be of much more help.

They're vat free at the shows so you pay just £11.99. The year before they were only a tenner a box. xx

VOTE WITH YOUR FEET GIRL ! In other words, if you feel you are being ripped off dont buy from them, but your things elsewhere. That is what you would do if you went into a supermarket and they decided to charge your 10% extra for everything. you would not shop with them would you. You would go to the supermarket down the road that charged the better price. If everyone in Scotland did this, they would soon bring their charges down.

hey i use Millinium im from Northern Ireland, i buy my products from the supplier in Bangor but im almost sure that i paid £17.00 for a set of 400 tips. Y is this!!! Although mayb the supplier gets a cut o that! damn

I'll buy them for you and send them on, even when you pay the p+p im sure you wont be paying what you got quoted from the scottish distributor. Or like its already been said, just dont buy their products, go elsewhere, and send them a letter explaining your dis-satisfaction with their scottish distributor.

like i said in my previous post i will be more than happy to get you what you need, just let me have your shopping list, you can send me a cheque or pay me by paypal. Not a problem. and i can confirm that files are definatly 30p and tips are £11.99

Or get them from the trade show!! Cheeky devils - not the distributor, but Millenium Nails. Poor distributor is only trying to earn a crust!!

I use Millenium nails and I get mine from a distributor ( who is going to be the distributor for Wales) and her prices are the same as you would get from Millennium nails - so it sounds a little sus - how come she can sell them at the same price as millennium and the others can't - can't see her having any special treatment!!

Will e-mail and see what she says xx

Thanks for the replies and the kind offers to buy on my behalf, I really appreciate it.
I am so annoyed at being penalised because I live over the border - Scotland is part of the United Kingdom!
I really wanted to try some of their products having heard good things on here so am really peeved. I am still looking at other suppliers (any rec's for reasonably priced good quality tips?) and am not sure what I am going to do ~ I do know I will NOT be buying from the Scottish distributors.
Unfortunatley I am not going to Earls court and although I desperatley want to go GMex I probably wont make it. I am in up the North East of Scotland, so travelling is expensive (story of my life!), I am going back to college and trying to set up my business so money is really tight.

ColourFlair ~ I would be really interested to hear your distributors comments.

Thanks KxXx

Maybe a call to the Office of Fair Trading will give you some more info on this.....
If they are official Distributors, thats with contract and signature aso, then I can't see how they can legally sell a product at Millennium New Castle for more at the Millennium distributorship in Scotland ......Just doesn't seem right.....well it might be legally right but morally ????

But there are other lower costs Distributors out there, so why not try them and ask for some tip samples.......... Check out Trade magazines and Trade shows......

Thanks Ruth,

I just wanted to buy cheaper tips but still of a decent quality to use whilst I am still practising ~ poor student and all that....

Anyway glad I am found out about Millenium on here or else I would probably have ordered from the Scottish distributor and never realised I was being ripped off. Glad I could warn others too, voting with our feet is the best thing to do.

Thanks Geeks
 KxXx

I can tell you that there own make acrylic powder is not a patch on the creative powder. You get quite a bit of lifting with it. So it goes to show that you do get what you pay for. I found millenium powder to be great when training but not so good when you want it to last and look good for more than a few days.

Thansk Kizzy,
I was only interested in trying tips, some nail art bits and perhaps the files. Still mulling over what to do.

That is pure BS!!!! As if the main distributor would sell to a sub at that price - that is pure BS to appease you... I think that is unbelievable; how greedy can you get?????

Thanks Mrs Geek - my thoughts exactly!
The attitude I got from both the Head Office and the Distributor was 'so?'

Hi Karol,
then your response to such a shambles should be........ you want my custom well "so what" !!!!
A company that does not care about Customer questions and only has a reply of "so" is in my book not worth bothering with .....
