I just did my first set of gel nails on myself and I don't know what went wrong! My hands were in water and when they dried I was looking at my nails and the edge was lifted and i peeled the whole polish off. I thought gel nails were supposed to be hard and not just peel off. If anything they would chip? I used bond aid. OPI base coat, Polish, and top coat. I just need advice on exactly how to do all of it correctly!

Oh no, they surely shouldn't do that!

What prep did you do before the base coat? Are you using the OPI lamp?

It could be you havent capped the edges properly so water has seeped in causing the peeling x

You'll need to tell us what you did from start to finish. I assume this is gel polish? And that you used the proper lamp and cured the proper time? Two layers of colour?

I am using the OPI lamp and I did the OPI bond aid before I put on the OPI base coat.

Yes this is gel. I have an OPI lamp. I did all OPI bond aid, 1 base coat, 2 color coats, 1 top coat and did 1 minute cure time on each one.

Also best to use gloves if your washing up, not to soak nails in water too long etc etc :p

Did you do any cuticle work and cleaned the nails before putting the bonder on?

Yup probably the water... I use dish gloves for cleaning and dishes - obviously I don't wear them in the shower ;)
