Hi, I have never posted before so hope i am doing this correctly. I live in Australia and own my own salon, I do the GO30 nails as well as acrylics. I have been very happy with the GO30'S. They are basically a nail that is fitted over the natural nail, they come in a lot of different shapes and sizes which means you can almost get an exact fit of the natural nail. Yes a lot of nail techs would call them stick ons but are alot more sophisticated and look very natural once applied. They are bonded with a strong glue. They last as long as acrylics but instead of an infill they are soaked off and new ones are replaced. Its hard to explain in detail but will try and send you a website in Newzealnd that you can look at if i can work out how to do this. Hope this is of some help to you

Hi! that sounds great, but there doesn't seem to be any uk sites for them

Don't be so certain that it is not the adhesive or the activator you are allergic to. If it is then PopIts are perfect for you to use, as you do not need either.

I have known several people in my time to be violently (and I mean violently) allergic to the activator and the adhesive.

Neither Monomer or gel is a normal culprit for attacks such as you have had, where as adhesive and activator has a history of such attacks.

Nailzoo's advice is good. Maybe you should think about it.

Thanks alot for that.. I'm just very surprised to hear that the glue may be the culprit.. We need to use the glue for all systems though don't we, and it would take me aaaaaages to sculpt as it's not something I have focused on..

But if you say you know of it affecting people violently then crikey, that's like me!!

I don't see how I can try getting around it without using glue as I would be so embarressed trying to sculpt on a paying client!!

The way I have been feeling also makes me not dare touch the products again...

But you're right, it is good advice so I'll try it out...

Thanks

You can sculpt easily with PopIts in one colour or two and it is very easy. You of course can also sculpt in the normal way, in which case it is a case of trying one or two at a time and seeing how you go hun.

Think carefully about how anyone works with activator. You spray it and then breathe it right directly into your lungs. This does not happen with monomer in the same way, and the monomer vapour is well within safety limits for 100 out of 100 people. Even though you can smell the vapour, the parts per million are minute as far as your breathing zone is concerned. Reactions to monomer vapour are really VERY rare and the same goes for gel. Getting it repeatedly onto your skin is a different matter. Simple dermatitis I could accept easily if you are very careless in the way you work, but to the vapour ??? I don't think so.

RIGHT...I see.. Gosh this is all so weird for me.. I know I'm making myself sound daft but I was just certain it was the gels/liquid&powders etc..

So the glue can actually cause such bad chest problems??! :!:

Right, I am going to nip to Claire's shortly, get me some clear croc clips and I am going to attempt a Brisa gel pop it nail!!

Just scared though as I am slowly recovering again now and as soon as the allergy hits me, it lasts for days....

Thank you so much for your time and advice!!

.....Just to add chuck, get your nail trainer out and dust it down, or some friends and have a practice with sculpts and popits, you may not have focussed on this before but now your circumstances have changed so may be time to shift the focus!! Of course you can sculpt on a paying client....after you master the technique!!!
Remember a time when you thought you could never do nails on a paying client!! But you practiced and practiced and you did it!!!! And I have every confidence you can do it again!!!:hug:

Ha ha ha, what you like.

By the way, I am so so sorry guys, BUT I have just thought..

Whenever I am ill after doing nails, like now, I cough and taste the gel or l&p really bad, which is why I thought these were the causes??..
Sorry!!

Hun, I'm not saying it is not the cause but it MAY not be the cause. I''m not sure what gel you are using ,,, does it require activator?? When you apply your tips do you always use activator? Or is the adhesive the more likely culprit?

TRY a sculpt and see. Go carefully.

I Agree With Geeg

Yes, totally understand.. My current system is Brisa as I did my conversion on 17th March!
My certificate came today, it's lovely!

The activator I was referring to was just when I tried out fibreglass..

Other systems I have used are the edge l&p, ezflow l&p, dream l&p, Creative retention+ l&p, acrygel, sina gel and star nails fibreglass..Only tried fibreglass VERY briefly

Had doctor's appointment at 2:40 pm and I am non the wiser about my allergy.

She said they have no facility whatsoever there for allergy/patch testing.

She says she is unsure if any local places do it too!!

She has however said that she will look into it and call me within 10 days..

Got a girl coming to salon tomorrow for 2 repairs...
Had 3 new enquiries about nails too..
Just really don't want make myself worse though.
Especially all over the weekend and whilst I'm working at the salon again..

I really hope it's the glue that I'm allergic to!!

Want try sculpting on my nail trainer now but it's not really a good idea as I am going out tonight...

I'm quite local to you and have been reading your plight re allergies for a few days.

I cant offer any more advice than you have been given but if you want to try anything out on someone or have someone do you some sculpts then give me a call xx

I would like to set the record straight! PRESCRIPTION NAILS ARE FOR THE PROFFESSIONAL TECH TO APPLY IN THE SALON!!!!! tHESE ARE NOT STICK ONS THAT CRACK,AND POP OFF!
I have never mentioned this before because I know how some techs feel about full cover tips that people can apply at home, and I did'nt want to go into depth about the prescription nails untill now.
I have used them for 3 years in my salon. I do the most awesome nails I can and then I put them on myself! You just can't do nail art that good after you apply your nails. I use caulk putty on the back of a nail and press on an orangewood stick. then I hold it and decorate till my hearts content!!!!they are called prescription nails because when your Client comes in you use a sizer to prescribe the size that fits her. there are 128 sizes. you need to look at the c curve and the shape to determine which sizer to use on her.
then you write her sizes down on a card for future use.
Prep
start right {which is a topical dehydrator
then you use rapid bond glue {gel glue}
put glue on the tip and apply at a 45 degree angle and gently push under the cuticle ledge.{ which does'nt hurt! it's just a nudge}
lay the nail down with out Alot of pressure! Let the glue do all the work.{ you will see the glue spread and fiLL the nail plate.}
wait about 10 seconds and lift your finger up slowly. If you see that the nail has any bubbles under it hold it back down for a few more seconds. If you lift off your fingers again and you still see a bubble, you might not have enough glue. Lift up immediatley add more glue, and lay it down again at a 45 d. angle.
apply rapid bond around cuticle. this will insure a tight seal.
cut,shape, buff,polish
2 weeks later you soak them off in acetone,{ i HAVE A MACHINE THAT WILL SOAK OFF ANYTHING IN ABOUT 12 TO 15 MINS.} and apply a new set. some of my clients go 3 weeks cause they want to save money.
I don't use the rapid bone glue from the co. anymore. It is to strong. and some people had problems with skin irritations. I started useing gel bond glue by cnd. and have'nt had a problem. gelbond is pharmasutical grade glue and is ok for the skin. You must use a gel glue with these nails.
I love these nails and wear them myself. I do the most art I can on them so I have the most awesome nails in my town and then I glue them on. The same co. also makes a kit called pro impression nail kit. They are to sell as party nails for the weekend. to your customers! I'm not doin it! They just want to make more money of us. I'm not going to sell anyone anything that they can do at home!!!!!

I still love my gels and l & P.
My customers love these so much that I have a tough time getting them to switch back to other nails. I don't like the acetone soak, but it is only for about 12 mins. 2 times a month. Go to: www. prescriptionnails.com
I just got my young nails package today so I plan to wow them with new fun stuff!!!!!
