I attended a Business Start up course earlier this week and picked up what I though was a really good tip and just thought I would share how I have translated it.
When offering a service to a client always offer the top of the range Gold service. If the client feels this is too expensive or too much then you come down to the Silver Service which is the not quite as good as Gold at a slightly reduced price. If the client is still unsure you can offer a taster Bronze treatment to see if they like it. If you offer Bronze to start with and the client thinks it is too expensive there is no point in discussing it as there is no where to go
How does this translate to us? On my price list I used to have all my individual treatments listed and then upgrades and add ons underneath.

i.e.
Mini Manicure and Polish - £7
Solar Drench Manicure with polish - £12
Solar Drench Manicure including Paraffin Wax and Polish - £15

Now I have turned them round so I offer the Gold services first and work my way down. It simply makes your premium services premium rather than an add on or after thought.
Just a simple thing but I can see how it would make a difference.

sounds like a brilliant idea simple but effective - thanks

Sounds good to me. Thats how I've laid out my price list.
File and polish
Cuticle work, file, polish
Mini manicure above inc arm massage
Luxury manicure
Manicure plus gel
AND
same for feet.

I've always listed the cheapest service first. Will change my leaflets and see how it works.

Thanks for the info.

I collect salon price lists and they almost always lay out the most expensive first.

Good idea brains will have to revise my order of work now.

An interesting concept - thanks for sharing it. When I do my next leaflet run I'll give it a go and see what impact it makes.

Thanks Nemotail

I would love to know if this makes a difference to anyone. I am going to do it but have nothing to compare to, so if you are changing your price lists please let us know the outcome.
