Hey Geeks im in need of some help!!
Im a beauty therapist with really greasy hair!! i wash my hair every day to avoid it looking greasy as its not a good look for a beauty therapist.. my hairdresser has told me my hair is very dry as i use my GHD too much and also from highlighting my hair!! i use Elvive shampoo and conditioner for dry hair and find that i need to put the conditioner up near my scalp because i cannot brush it after if i dont use conditioner.. i use nearly a bottle of conditioner a week but i have a feeling that this could be why my hair is so greasy but i need to use it because my hair is so dry!! it makes me feel really conscious about my hair with the line of work im in.. if anyone could give me any tips i would be very grateful :) also i was told not to wash my hair every day and only wash it every second day but this has not worked for me either!! :( x

Hi washing it every day will make it worse the more you stimulate the scalp the more oil you will produce ,i have oily hair to and I wash it 2-3 times a week dry shampoo is my best friend you should really give it a go :-D

You really should buy some professional products try some good shampoo and conditioner, maybe some leave in conditioner/treatments for the ends to help the condition of your hair

Are you using heat protection with your GHD's?

Ah not good I must say im I bit allergic to the brown batists but the white are fine ,but there are a fue different brands now.also try to not over rub the scalp when you wash your hair ,leave the shampoo on for a minute or 2 :-D

Use a goo cleansing shampoo and a very lightweight spray in conditioner and do you shampoo twice? X

Yes I use John freida heat protection products but I have to admit I don't always use them!! Can anyone recommend a good professional shampoo and conditioner to use? I do find the Elvive good :) and I shampoo my hair twice and condition it once!! My hair it literally like straw when I'm washing it!! I don't even mind it being dry I just want to sort out the greasiness as it makes me feel horrible :( thanks for the advice :) xx

All the brand names even John fredia and lee Stafford all have polymers and sulphites in them! Basically this is a plastic coating! It creates a barrier for colour, and any other chemical service. By choosing professional tried and tested and accredited by stylists shampoo and conditioner then you and your hair will thank you! I recommend any of the Redken range or Wella enrich :) you can buy all those from amazon or salons :) you only need a 20 pence piece amount every time you use the shampoo, and only condition the ends of the hair as conditioning the roots will create oil in no time :) those products should last you 3-4 months depending on the frequency you wash your hair. Need anymore advice then please pm me :) xx

Ok great :) il look into buying those products.. I'm willing to do anything!! Thanks for the advice.. Greatly appreciated :) xx

Hi Caroline! I've been in your situation too, I wash my hair most days (I give it a miss if I'm not going out) but I just make sure I religiously moisturise my hair to compensate for the goodness I wash out of it!

You need to make sure that your hair is in good condition right from the 'core', using (most) conditioners/serums/anything with silicones in will just sit on the surface of the hair shaft. Even though this will make your hair feel soft & healthy, it won't actually be doing much for your hair except protecting it from environmental factors such as pollution & humidity. Hair is basically a make up of proteins, predominantly a fibrous structure called Keratin so keeping this healthy is vital! Now eggs are pretty much all protein but if you don't fancy a whisked-egg hair mask, slap on some mayo! Do it once or twice a week (post-shampoo, pre-conditioner) to keep the structure of the hair shaft healthy, also mayo is much more cost effective than conditioner hahah :p

Serums/leave-in conditioners etc were mentioned & I'd definitely make use of them every time you wash to protect your hair from the perils you place upon it ;) Some of my favourites are 'Hair Insurance' leave-in conditioner by Aussie, 'Super Skinny' serum by Paul Mitchell (smells like watermelon mm!) & Tresemme do a really good heat protectant spray!

Thanks for the great advice Pink Swoon :)

No doubt i will try those products you have mentioned :)

Thanks a mill :) xx
