Any advice on technique for this one, I'm sure alot of these images are photo shopped. I'm working on a base 6 virgin hair but I'm not sure whether to bleach then tone or balayage. She's wanting a cool 5.1 roots and possible 10/6through the balayage. Shall I do full head bleach then demi on roots and smudge into toner. Any help would be appreciated x

I wouldn't balayage as you probably went get as clean a lift for the grey.

I'd do as you suggested and full head prelighten but don't bleach the roots as theres no need because you'll be darkening anyway. Then do your root stretch and smudge into toner.

You could even do the root stretch and bleach at the same time then tone afterwards.

Thanks for replying caddie, Do you think it would take a few go's tbh colour isn't my strong point and don't want to compromise the hair, I like the sound of the root stretch idea, with mabe illumina 5/81 and lightner and 9%mabe?

Don’t forget the number 1 rule when creating a nice grey, is you need to bleach up to a 10, tone out the yellow with a violet based toner to neutralise, then go back with your target grey colour. If you apply the grey to the untoned bleached hair, it will dilute the depth of the grey too much.
